A video laryngoscope has a handle and a blade. A chemiluminescent light source is disposed inside the handle, along with one or more photovoltaic cells which are optically coupled to convert chemiluminescence emitted by the chemiluminescent light source into electrical power. An image sensor is disposed on the blade or in the handle and is configured to image the glottis of a patient when the distal end of the laryngoscope blade operatively engages the tongue of the patient. The image sensor is powered by the electrical power produced by the one or more photovoltaic cells. A system for recording tracheal intubation procedures performed by a plurality of video laryngoscopes is also disclosed.

Power Source Control for Medical Capsules
20190069758 · 2019-03-07 · ·

A power source apparatus and a system incorporating said power source for medical capsules are disclosed. A medical capsule often includes a power source sealed in a housing. Embodiments of the present invention allow the medical capsule to enable/disable electrical power supplied to a sub-system in the capsule device without special tools and/or skills after the medical capsule is manufactured. In one embodiment, the power source apparatus comprises a plunger responsive to a magnetic field, a spring to interact with the plunger, a battery and a control piece. The plunger is moved between first and second positions according to a magnetic field applied externally. Accordingly, the control piece enables or disables the power depending on the plunger positions. In another embodiment, a capsule system uses an electrical interconnect with pressure contacts between the power source and the capsule sub-system connecting the second circuit board to the power-output nodes.

METHODS OF USER INTERFACES FOR ELECTROSURGICAL TOOLS IN ROBOTIC SURGICAL SYSTEMS

A method for a minimally invasive surgical system is disclosed including capturing camera images of a surgical site; generating a graphical user interface (GUI) including a first colored border portion in a first side and a second colored border in a second side opposite the first side; and overlaying the GUI onto the captured camera images of the surgical site for display on a display device of a surgeon console. The GUI provides information to a user regarding the first electrosurgical tool and the second tool in the surgical site that is concurrently displayed by the captured camera images. The first colored border portion in the GUI indicates that the first electrosurgical tool is controlled by a first master grip of the surgeon console and the second colored border portion indicates the tool type of the second tool controlled by a second master grip of the surgeon console.

MULTIPURPOSE CABLING
20190038868 · 2019-02-07 ·

A catheter, comprising: a flexible tubular member having at least one lumen therethrough and a proximal end and a distal end; a plurality of conductive cables extending through at least one of the at least one lumen; and at least one electrically operated component, attached at the distal end and powered by at least one electrical current driven on at least one of the plurality of conductive cables. Some of the plurality of conductive cables are attached to the distal end such that the flexible tubular member is deformed by exerting at the proximal end a tensile force on one of the some of the plurality of conductive cables and a compressive force on another of the some of the plurality of conductive cables, while the at least one electrical current is driven on the some of the plurality of conductive cables.
