TREATMENT TOOL FOR ENDOSCOPE AND METHOD FOR USING TREATMENT TOOL FOR ENDOSCOPE
The treatment tool for an endoscope includes a sheath having a lumen into which a guide wire is insertable, a distal end portion in which a distal end opening communicating with the lumen is formed, a proximal end portion in which a proximal end opening communicating with the lumen is formed, and a sheath slit in which a proximal end communicates with the proximal end opening and which is elongated along a longitudinal axis direction toward the distal end portion; and a funnel tube into which the sheath is insertable, the funnel tube including a through-hole formed on a side surface of the funnel tube at a position corresponding to the proximal end opening of the sheath, and a funnel slit elongated in the longitudinal axis direction.
ROTARY KNOB ASSEMBLY FOR A STEERABLE MEDICAL DEVICE
A control device for use with a steerable medical device comprises a steering shaft rotatable about a longitudinal axis thereof, a first steering cam is affixed to the steering shaft to rotate in unison therewith. A second steering cam is mounted on the steering shaft and freely rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the steering shaft independent of the steering shaft. A latch assembly is operatively connected to the first steering cam and the second steering cam and operable in an inactive configuration in which the first and second steering cams are positioned to maintain first and second steering wires in an un-tensioned or reduced tension state, and further operable in an active configuration in which the first and second steering cams are positioned to maintain the first and second steering wires in a tensioned state. A rotary knob assembly is also disclosed.
Method for intubation using remote video monitor
A manually articulated stylet assembly for placing an endotracheal tube. The stylet assembly has a steering shaft that carries a flexible distal tip at one end and is attached to a handle at the other end. The distal tip is manipulated via sheathed cables controlled by a remote actuator in the handle. A biasing member inside the remote actuator maintains continuous tension on the cables to improve control. A video camera is carried in a recessed lens pocket in the steering shaft but spaced from the distal tip. The camera FOV captures movement of the distal tip with foreshortened perspective. A collar seat in the handle receives the collar connector of a standard endotracheal tube, providing quick disconnect when removing the stylet assembly upon placement.
Endoscopic image acquisition system and method
Provided are endoscopic image acquisition system and method that make observation of images easier when images are collected. The endoscopic image acquisition system includes a wavelength pattern changing unit that changes a wavelength pattern of irradiation light with which a part to be observed in a body cavity of a patient is irradiated or returning light from the part to be observed. Images of an observation wavelength pattern are captured at a certain frame rate. In response to acceptance of an acquisition instruction, images of a plurality of wavelength patterns different from one another are sequentially captured. The images of the plurality of wavelength patterns different from one another are stored in a storage unit. An image of a wavelength pattern other than the observation wavelength pattern is set not to be displayed.
MEDICAL MANIPULATOR SYSTEM
A medical manipulator system includes a manipulator having a first joint; a first detecting means detecting an orientation of the first joint; an operation unit having a second joint associated with the first joint for operating the first joint; a second detecting means detecting an orientation of the second joint; a control unit outputting a signal for operating the first joint, the signal being based on the orientation of the second joint detected by the second detecting means; and a display unit displaying information output by the control unit, wherein a display of the information by the display unit includes a first display indicating a predetermined range of an orientation determined by using the orientation of the first joint that is detected by the first detecting means as a reference and a second display indicating the orientation of the second joint that is detected by the second detecting means.
Methods and Apparatus to Shape Flexible Entry Guides for Minimally Invasive Surgery
An apparatus for performing surgical procedures is disclosed including a flexible entry guide tube and a first steering device. The guide tube has one or more lumens extending along its length from a proximal end to substantially at or near a distal end. At least one of the one or more lumens is an instrument lumen with open ends to receive a flexible shaft of a surgical tool. The first steering device is insertable into the instrument lumen to shape the guide tube as it is inserted through an opening in a body and along a path towards a surgical site. The apparatus may further include a flexible locking device to couple to the flexible entry guide tube and selectively rigidize the guide tube to hold its shape. The guide tube may be steered by remote control with one or more actuators.
KNOBS FOR ENDOSCOPES WITH IMPROVED USABILITY AND ERGONOMICS
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices. In particular, the present disclosure relates to medical devices and systems with control knobs designed for improved usability and ergonomics. For example, the control knobs of the present disclosure may include surface features for improved gripping, surface features for improved perception of medical device orientation within a patient and/or knobs dimensioned for improved thumb reach and reduced torque.
ENDOSCOPE
In an endoscope including a rear grasping portion extending along a second longitudinal axis that is a direction flexed relative to a first longitudinal axis along which the operation portion body extends, a bend preventing portion covering a universal cable extending out from the proximal end side of the rear grasping portion is joined to the proximal end side of the rear grasping portion via a movable joint portion so that a direction of the bend preventing portion can be changed by the movable joint portion to a first direction oriented to the inner side in the flexion direction of the rear grasping portion relative to the operation portion body and a second direction oriented to the outer side in the flexion direction of the rear grasping portion relative to operation portion body.
Side loading articulating laryngeal access system
A laryngeal access system includes a laryngeal blade with a proximal portion and a distal portion, an inner channel extending longitudinally through the laryngeal blade, wherein an outer wall of the laryngeal blade has an opening therethrough extending from the proximal portion to the distal portion of the blade through which an object can pass through the outer wall into the inner channel, an articulating member provided at the distal portion of the blade, and an actuator provided at the proximal portion of the blade and coupled to the articulating member, wherein the actuator moves the articulating member from a first position, in which the articulating member has a first longitudinal axis, to a second position, in which the articulating member extends at an angle relative to the first longitudinal axis.
