In various embodiments, a known fluid volume comprising a sample line fluid and a secondary fluid is delivered to a fluid boundary sensor. The fluid boundary sensor assists in determining the position of the boundaries between the various fluids, and the positions of these boundaries are used to determine the sample line fluid volume.

Liquid immersion sensor

A liquid immersion sensor for a mobile device with at least two acoustic transducers is described. The liquid immersion sensor may include a signal generator having a signal generator output configured to generate a signal for transmission via a first acoustic transducer, and a signal receiver having a signal receiver input configured to receive a delayed version of the generated signal via a second acoustic transducer. The signal receiver includes a signal receiver output. The liquid immersion sensor includes a controller having a first controller input for receiving a reference signal and a second controller input coupled to the signal receiver output. The controller determines a time lag value between the reference signal and the delayed signal and generates a control output signal dependent on the phase difference. The control output signal indicates if the mobile device is immersed in liquid.

Ultrasonic fluid measuring arrangement with at least two waveguide parts spaced apart on an outer wall of a measuring tube

A fluid measuring arrangement with a flow channel for a fluid to be measured having at least two areas of an outer wall forming waveguide parts for surface acoustic waves. A first and/or a second signal converter is arranged at each waveguide part, wherein at least two first signal converters arranged on different waveguide parts or two second signal converters arranged on different waveguide parts are spaced with respect to each other in the axial direction of the flow channel.

Systems and methods for evaluating electrolyte wetting and distribution

Systems and techniques for measuring process characteristics including electrolyte distribution in a battery cell. A non-destructive method for analyzing a battery cell includes determining acoustic features at two or more locations of the battery cell, the acoustic features based on one or more of acoustic signals travelling through at least one or more portions of the battery cell during one or more points in time or responses to the acoustic signals obtained during one or more points in time, wherein the one or more points in time correspond to one or more stages of electrolyte distribution in the battery cell. One or more characteristics of the battery cell are determined based on the acoustic features at the two or more locations of the battery cell.

CHARACTERIZING NON-LINEAR DYNAMIC PROCESSES

A non-linear dynamic process such as multiphase flow is characterized to determine a condition of the process. A sensor may obtain information about strain, vibration, flow rate, etc. during the process. That sensor data may be plotted, and at least one perceptual hash can be generated from the plot. The perceptual hash can be compared against a database storing plots or hashes for non-linear dynamic responses for different sensor types or processes. A best fit hash may be identified and used to determine what conditions are occurring in the field, or multiple near fits can define an envelope of experimental/reference conditions with similar non-linear dynamics to the field system. Multiple hash comparisons may be used to refine the envelope, determine a best fit, or determine what measurement would help discriminate the flow conditions.
