Method and System for Separating Biomolecules
A separation system, and an elution arrangement to be provided in a separation system, for separating a biomolecule from a cell culture are provided.
STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS LEUKOCIDINS, THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITIONS, AND USES THEREOF
Disclosed herein are isolated and purified Staphylococcus aureus bi-component leukocidin, referred to herein as LukAB, and its components LukA and LukB, antibodies specific to LukA, antibodies specific to LukB, therapeutic compositions containing LukA and/or LukB, or anti-LukA and/or anti-LukB antibodies, uses of the compositions to treat acute inflammatory conditions or S. aureus infection, methods for identifying inhibitors of LukAB-mediated cytotoxicity of human phagocytes, and methods for using LukAB as a marker to predict severity of S. aureus infection.
DEVICE, PROCEDURE AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING BACTERIAL PATHOGENS INCLUDING METHICILLIN-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS OR CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE
A bio-sensor device for the electrochemical detection of a bacterial pathogen, the device including a sample chamber and an electronic data module. The sample chamber includes passive sensing probes to detect pathogenic antigens in a sample containing the bacterial pathogen. The probes detect a reaction voltage corresponding to an antigen-antibody reaction occurring when the pathogenic antigens come into contact with an antibody specific for pathogenic antigens present in in the contents of the sample chamber and contacted by the electrical probes. The electronic data module detects and processes electrical signals detected by the conductive electrical probes corresponding to an amount of the antigen present in the sample, wherein the reaction voltage is detected at the time of the reaction.
Proteins and nucleic acids useful in vaccines targeting Staphylococcus aureus
The present invention relates to proteins and nucleic acids derived from Staphylococcus aureus as well as therapeutic and diagnostic uses of the proteins and nucleic acids.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR EVALUATING AND TREATING FIBROSIS
Staphylococcus nepalensis releases corisin, a peptide conserved in diverse Staphylococci, that induces apoptosis of lung epithelial cells. Therefore, methods and apparatus for detecting the presence of corisin in a biological sample of a patient are disclosed, as well as pharmaceutical compositions, such as antibodies, and methods for treating patents having or suspected of having fibrosis.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR ASSEMBLY OF BIOLOGICAL NANOPORES
Methods and compositions for the manufacture and use of a detection apparatus based on one or more native biological nanopores are provided. Uses include, but are not limited to, detection and sequencing of nucleic acids.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION OF METHICILLIN-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS
Disclosed is a method for identifying methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus through detection a mass signal at m/z of 6580-6600 in the MALDI-TOF mass spectrum. Also disclosed is a novel peptide biomarker, which consists of SEQ NO ID:5 and the use thereof for detection and/or identification of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
LASER-INDUCED GRAPHENE ELECTRODES ADAPTABLE FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSING AND CATALYSIS
Apparatus and methods of fabrication and use of highly effective laser-induced graphene (LIG) electrodes including for electrochemical sensing and catalysis. One example is a sensitive and label-free laser-induced graphene (LIG) electrode functionalized for a specific application. One example of functionalization with antibodies, an enzyme, or an ionophore to electrochemically quantify a target species The LIG electrodes were produced by laser induction on film having a carbon precursor (e.g. polyimide) in ambient conditions, and hence circumvent the need for high-temperature, vacuum environment, and metal seed catalysts commonly associated with graphene-based electrodes fabricated via chemical vapor deposition processes. These results demonstrate how LIG-based electrodes can be used for electrochemical sensing in general. Other examples of applications include, but are not limited to, ion-sensing, pesticide monitoring and detection, and water splitting, using the LIG-based electrode(s) adapted for those purposes.
Nanopore protein conjugates and uses thereof
Described herein are nanopore protein conjugates that can be used in DNA sequencing reactions. The nanopore protein conjugates includes a nanopore protein monomer that is joined to a DNA binding domain. The nanopore protein monomer is available to oligomerize with other nanopore protein monomers, while the DNA binding domain is available to bind to a template DNA strand. In certain examples, the nanopore protein monomer is an alpha-hemolysin monomer or variant thereof and the DNA binding domain is an Sso7d protein or variant thereof, such as an Sso7d-like protein. Also provided are nanopore protein assemblies incorporating the nanopore protein conjugates, along with methods of using the nanopore protein assemblies in sequencing reactions.
ANTIBODY SPECIFIC TO ALPHA-TOXIN OF STAPHYLOCOCCAL AUREUS AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically bind to α-toxin of Staphylococcal aureus. The present disclosure also relates to a pharmaceutical composition, a method for treating and/or preventing diseases and/or disorders caused by Staphylococcal aureus infection in a subject in need, and a method for detecting α-toxin of Staphylococcal aureus in a sample.
