Direct current circuit switch
An apparatus, system and method of controlling the supply of DC current from a power source to an electrical load provides for a protective circuit that senses the characteristics of the connected load prior to permitting the enablement of a switch connecting the supply and the load. A voltage arising from applying a constant current to the load during a time period is compared with a predetermined threshold determined by the intended capacity of the switch so that, when closed, the current through the switch is compatible with the switch. The protective circuit may be used in conjunction with semiconductor switches, electromechanical contactors or relays. A plurality of such devices may be incorporated in an enclosure and controlled by logic so as to manage the supply of power from a power source to a plurality of electrical loads having differing power requirements.

Sensor device and method
Sensor devices and corresponding methods are provided. When a signal path output (COMP OUT) indicates no threshold crossings, diagnosis is performed with a timing based on a clock. In case threshold crossings are indicated, diagnosis is performed with a timing based on threshold crossings.

Sensor apparatuses with a bypass current path and associated production methods
A sensor apparatus comprises an electrically conductive chip carrier comprising a busbar, a first connection and a second connection, and a differential magnetic field sensor chip which is arranged on the chip carrier and has two sensor elements. The form of the busbar is such that a measurement current path running from the first connection to the second connection through the busbar comprises a main current path and a bypass current path, wherein the main current path and the bypass current path run parallel to one another, and a bypass current flowing through the bypass current path is less than a main current flowing through the main current path. The magnetic field sensor chip is configured to capture a magnetic field induced by the bypass current.

Current sensor having stray field immunity
Methods and apparatus for a current sensor having an elongate current conductor having an input and an output and a longitudinal axis. First, second, third and fourth magnetic field sensing elements are coupled in a bridge configuration and positioned in a plane parallel to a surface of the current conductor such that the second and fourth magnetic field sensing elements comprise inner elements and the first and third magnetic field sensing elements comprise outer elements. Embodiments of the sensor reduce the effects of stray fields on the sensor.
Actuator assembly having rotary sensor responsive to rotation of magnet
An actuator assembly comprises: a rotatable shaft, a magnet mounted to the rotatable shaft, non-magnet material positioned between the magnet and the shaft, a rotary sensor configured to be responsive to rotation of the magnet for generating a signal, and a housing comprising a magnetic shield surrounding at least a part of the rotary sensor and at least a part of the magnet mounted to the shaft to shield the sensor and the magnet from an external magnetic field. The actuator assembly further comprises a magnet holder fixing the magnet to the shaft. The magnetic shield encompasses the magnetic flux from the magnet to the rotary sensor and also shields the rotary sensor from any external magnetic field such as stray field or magnetic field from the outside of the housing. The non-magnetic material may reduce leakage magnetic flux from the magnet to the shaft.
DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUITS AND METHODS FOR ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTERS
Apparatus includes an ADC configured to convert an analog signal to a digital signal, a comparator having a first input responsive to the analog signal, a second input responsive to the digital signal, and an output at which a comparison signal is provided, and an output checker configured to process the comparison signal to generate a fault signal indicative of whether a fault has occurred in the ADC. The comparator can be an analog comparator in which case the digital signal is converted to an analog signal for the comparison or a digital comparator in which case an additional ADC is provided to convert the analog signal into a digital signal for the comparison. Embodiments include more than one ADC in which case summation elements are provided to sum the analog signals and the digital signals for the comparison.
MAGNETIC SENSOR USING METAL AND SILICON JUNCTION STRUCTURE
A magnetic sensor includes a silicon substrate, a cross-shaped metal pattern formed on the silicon substrate and directly contacting the silicon substrate, and an insulating layer covering the cross-shaped metal pattern.
