In accordance with a first aspect of the present disclosure, a system is provided for facilitating detecting an external object, the system comprising: at least one first communication unit configured to transmit and receive one or more first signals; at least one second communication unit configured to transmit and receive one or more second signals; a controller configured to control the first communication unit and the second communication unit, wherein the controller is configured to cause the first communication unit and the second communication unit to operate concurrently and to use the first signals received by the first communication unit and the second signals received by the second communication unit while said first communication unit and second communication unit are operating concurrently for detecting the external object. In accordance with other aspects of the present disclosure, a corresponding method for facilitating detecting an external object is conceived, as well as a computer program for carrying out said method.

Method, System and Apparatus for Generating an Optimal Signal in Radar and Communication Systems
A method of generating a reference signal for transmission over a wireless communication channel comprises generating a first signal of a first characteristic, generating a second signal with second characteristic, scaling the second signal at least in time and an amplitude to form a scaled signal and iteratively adding the scaled signal to the first signal to generate the reference signal. The iteratively adding comprises time indexing the first signal with plurality of time points, adding the scaled signal to first signal at each time point in the plurality of time points, computing a cost function to determine the cost of adding the scaled signal at each time point in the plurality of time points, selecting a set of time points that indicate reduction in the cost when the scaled signal is added and adjusting the amplitude of the scaled signal at each time point in the set of time points to reduce the cost.

A radar apparatus according to the present disclosure includes: a transmission unit configured to transmit radio waves; a reception unit including a first receiver configured to receive a first reflected radio wave and a second receiver configured to receive a second reflected radio wave, the first reflected radio wave and the second reflected radio wave having different polarization characteristics from each other and being included in reflected radio waves that are the radio waves reflected by a detection target; and a control unit configured to control operations of the transmission unit and the reception unit, and configured to identify the detection target on the basis of the operation of the transmission unit, a first reception level at the first receiver, and a second reception level at the second receiver.

The present invention relates to a device that processes a radar signal, and a method therefor. More particularly, the present invention relates to a device and a method for reducing an interference signal by predicting occurrence of an in-band interference signal. Particularly, the present invention provides a radar signal processing device and method, the radar signal processing device comprising: an interference reference flag configuration unit that divides a transmission signal into a plurality of blocks in preconfigured time units on a time axis, and configures an interference reference flag for one or more specific blocks selected among the plurality of blocks; an impulsive noise detection unit that detects whether an impulsive noise occurs in each of the plurality of blocks, by using a reception signal; an in-band flag configuration unit that configures an in-band flag by using the interference reference flag and a block in which the impulsive noise is detected; and an interference signal prediction unit that predicts introduction of an in-band interference signal according to whether an in-band flag exists.
Radar system and terminal device
A radar system and a terminal device are provided. The radar system includes a controller and at least two radar modules directly or indirectly connected to the controller. The at least two radar modules include a first radar module and a second radar module, and the first radar module and the second radar module implement time division multiplexing of the controller in a digital domain. Compared with an existing radar system, the radar system in this application can provide more transmit channels, more receive channels, and a larger antenna array size when the two radar systems include a same quantity of controllers.

In one embodiment, a method includes identifying, for each of one or more environmental radars, one or more parameter values associated with a radar signal of the environmental radar, determining one or more transmission parameter values for the radar, wherein a combination of the one or more transmission parameter values is different from a combination of the one or more parameter values of each of the one or more environmental radars, and configuring the radar with the determined one or more transmission parameter values.

Embodiments include methods for managing operation of a first radar system executed by a processor of a first user equipment (UE) of a first vehicle having the first radar system. In various embodiments, a processor of a first UE of the first vehicle may receive at the first UE from a base station, a wireless communication control message including radar transmission configuration information or radar reception interference information regarding the radar signals from a second radar system of a second vehicle having a second UE. Some embodiments may use the radar transmission configuration information or radar reception interference information received from the base station to manage operation of the first radar system.

Automotive radar methods and systems for enhancing resistance to interference using a built-in self-test (BIST) module. In one illustrative embodiment, an automotive radar transceiver includes: a signal generator that generates a transmit signal; a modulator that derives a modulated signal from the transmit signal using at least one of phase and amplitude modulation; at least one receiver that mixes the transmit signal with a receive signal to produce a down-converted signal, the receive signal including the modulated signal during a built-in self-test (BIST) mode of operation; and at least one transmitter that drives a radar antenna with a selectable one of the transmit signal and the modulated signal.
