PHASE MODULATED CONTINUOUS WAVE RADAR SYSTEM THAT USES VELOCITY LABELED MULTIPLEXING FOR GENERATING DETECTIONS
A phase modulated continuous wave (PMCW) multiple input multiple output (MEM) radar system is described herein. The radar system is configured to compute range, velocity, and direction of arrival angle of objects relative to the radar system. The radar system includes several transmitting antennas and several receiving antennas, where selected transmitting antennas simultaneously transmit radar signals based on the same modulation signal. Per transmitting antenna, the transmissions are modulated with respective phase offsets on a per pulse repetition interval (PRI) basis. Hence, a coupling between phase shifts over PRI and transmitter positions is established. Effectively, then, each transmitting antenna is labeled with a velocity offset that corresponds to the phase rate of change assigned to the transmitting antenna. This approach is referred to herein as velocity-labeled multiplexing (VLM).

PULSE DIGITAL MIMO RADAR SYSTEM
A chip-implementation of a millimeter wave MIMO radar comprises transmitters for transmitting short bursts of digitally modulated radar carrier signals and receivers for receiving delayed echoes of those signals. Various signal formats defined by the number of bits per transmit burst, the transmit burst duration, the receive period duration, the bitrate, the number of range bins, and the number of bursts per scan, facilitate the choice of modulating bit patterns such that when correlating for target echoes over an entire scan, the correlation codes for different ranges and different transmitters are mutually orthogonal or nearly so as compared to a random selection of codes. In the event of imperfect orthogonality, the subtraction of strong already-detected target signals allows for better detecting of weaker signals or moving targets that are rendered non-orthogonal by their Doppler shift.
SENSOR ASSEMBLY WITH LIDAR FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
A sensor assembly for autonomous vehicles includes a side mirror assembly configured to mount to a vehicle. The side mirror assembly includes a first camera having a field of view in a direction opposite a direction of forward travel of the vehicle; a second camera having a field of view in the direction of forward travel of the vehicle; and a third camera having a field of view in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of forward travel of the vehicle. The first camera, the second camera, and the third camera are oriented to provide, in combination with a fourth camera configured to be mounted on a roof of the vehicle, an uninterrupted camera field of view from the direction of forward travel of the vehicle to a direction opposite the direction of forward travel of the vehicle.

A sensor assembly for autonomous vehicles includes a side mirror assembly configured to mount to a vehicle. The side mirror assembly includes a first camera having a field of view in a direction opposite a direction of forward travel of the vehicle; a second camera having a field of view in the direction of forward travel of the vehicle; and a third camera having a field of view in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of forward travel of the vehicle. The first camera, the second camera, and the third camera are oriented to provide, in combination with a fourth camera configured to be mounted on a roof of the vehicle, an uninterrupted camera field of view from the direction of forward travel of the vehicle to a direction opposite the direction of forward travel of the vehicle.

The first camera, the second camera, and the third camera are oriented to provide, in combination with a fourth camera configured to be mounted on a roof of the vehicle, an uninterrupted camera field of view from the direction of forward travel of the vehicle to a direction opposite the direction of forward travel of the vehicle.

The invention is related to an automotive lighting device (10) comprising a light source (1) configured to emit light in a light direction (dl), a sensor (2) and a cover (3). The sensor (2) is configured to acquire information outside the lighting device by emitting a wave in a sensor direction (d2), the wavelength of the wave being comprised between 1 mm and 1 cm. The cover (3) comprises a first portion (31) located in the light direction and a second portion (32) located in the sensor direction, the second portion (32) comprising a sensor region (33) having a refractive index and a thickness which is comprised between 0.8 and 1.2 times an ideal thickness, the ideal thickness being equal to a natural number multiplied by the wavelength and divided by two times the refractive index.
