Forming a composite down sonar image
An apparatus configured to generate a first sonar image from first sonar returns corresponding to a first depth range and generate a second sonar image from the first sonar returns and second sonar returns, the second sonar returns corresponding to a second depth range greater than the first depth range of the first sonar returns such that a portion of the second sonar image does not include sonar return data. The portion without sonar return data corresponds to a period of the first sonar returns and depths greater than the maximum depth of the first depth range. The apparatus is configured to generate and display a fill image for the portion of the second sonar image based on at least one set of side facing sonar return data corresponding to the time period associated with the first sonar returns.
SONAR DATA COMPRESSION
A survey system including a multibeam echo sounder and a beam selector for selecting beams with the largest amplitudes.
MULTIMISSION AND MULTISPECTRAL SONAR
A survey system including a multibeam echo sounder having a single projector array and a single hydrophone array constructs a multi-signal message and deconstructs a corresponding multi-signal echo to substantially simultaneously perform multiple survey missions.
MULTIFAN SURVEY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A survey system including a multibeam echo sounder having a single projector array and a single hydrophone array constructs a multi-component message for ensonifying multiple fans and deconstructs a corresponding message echo for use in analyzing the returns from each fan.
CTFM DETECTION APPARATUS AND UNDERWATER DETECTION APPARATUS
A Continuous Transmission Frequency Modulated (CTFM) detection apparatus includes a projector, a sensor, and a hardware processor. The projector is configured to transmit underwater a frequency modulated transmission wave based on a transmission signal. The sensor is configured to form a reception beam directed downward and laterally outward to a side of the boat or the ship and receive a reflected wave, the reflected wave comprising a reflection of the transmission wave on a target object. The hardware processor is programmed to at least generate a beat signal based at least in part on the transmission signal and the reflected wave, extract a processing signal from the beat signal, and generate an image information related to the target object based on the extracted processing signal.
SONAR DATA ENHANCEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide sonar systems for mobile structures. A sonar system includes a sonar transducer assembly including a sonar transducer, a sonar receiver configured to receive acoustic returns from the sonar transducer and convert the acoustic returns into arrays of time differentiated sonar data samples, and a logic device adapted to communicate with the sonar receiver. The logic device is configured to receive the arrays of the time differentiated sonar data samples from the sonar receiver and process the received arrays to enhance the time differentiated sonar data samples substantially without enhancing sonar artifacts in the time differentiated sonar data samples Processed sonar data and/or resulting imagery may be displayed to a user and/or used to adjust a steering actuator, a propulsion system thrust, and/or other operational systems of the sonar transducer assembly and/or a mobile structure.
Position correction using towed sensor
Aspects of the subject technology relate to a method of correcting sensor position. The method comprises transmitting one or more first pulses of a first frequency range towards a first portion of a seabed and one or more second pulses of a second frequency range towards a second portion of the seabed, and receiving a first set and second set of backscattered data. The method further includes processing the first and second set of backscattered data to form a first and second set of image data and comparing the first set and second set of image data. The method further includes creating one or more error vectors between the first set and second set of image data, and updating the first set of backscattered data based on the one or more error vectors to produce an updated set of image data.
Carrying device for side-scan sonar
A carrying device for a side-scan sonar, including a suspension rod, a hanging rack, and a flange. The side-scan sonar is in fixed connection to the lower part of the hanging rack. The suspension rod includes a suspension unit, a universal joint, and a tension rod. The flange is disposed below the lower part of the tension rod. The hanging rack includes a Z-shaped main cross beam. Two U-shaped hooks are disposed at two ends of the Z-shaped main cross beam for supporting the side-scan sonar. A vertical drag hook is disposed in the inner side of each of the two U-shaped hooks for hanging the side-scan sonar. The flange is fixed in the center of the Z-shaped main cross beam.
Marine multibeam sonar device
A marine multibeam sonar device comprises a processing element and a transmitter. The processing element generates a plurality of transmit transducer electronic signals and inverts a polarity of a first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmitter is in communication with the processing element and includes a plurality of transmit electronic circuits and a plurality of transmit transducers. Each transmit electronic circuit receives and processes one of the transmit transducer electronic signals, wherein a first portion of the circuits re-inverts the polarity of the first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmit transducers receive the processed transmit transducer electronic signals from the transmit electronic circuits and generate a sonar beam.
Marine sonar display device with cursor plane
A marine sonar display device comprises a display, a sonar element, a memory element, and a processing element. The display presents sonar images. The sonar element generates a sonar beam and presents transducer signals. The processing element is in communication with the display, the sonar element, and the memory element and receives the transducer signals, calculates sonar data from the transducer signals and generates a three-dimensional view of a portion of the body of water, wherein the view includes a plurality of sonar images. Each sonar image is generated from sonar data derived from a previously-generated sonar beam and includes representations of underwater objects and a water bed. The processing element also generates a cursor plane and a cursor positioned thereon, both of which appear on the three-dimensional view. The processing element further controls the display to present the three-dimensional view, the sonar images, the cursor plane, and the cursor.
