FORECASTING NEONATAL VITALITY
20190133536 · 2019-05-09 ·

A decision support tool is provided for predicting the neonatal vitality scores of a fetus during delivery, the scores being an indicator of future health for the infant anticipated to be born within a future time interval, measured as time to birth. The predicted neonatal vitality score is determined from measurements of physiological variables monitored during labor, such as uterine activity and fetal heart rate. Fetal heart rate variability and patterns may be detected and computed using the monitored physiological variables, and neonatal vitality scores may be predicted based, at least in part, on the variability metrics and fetal heart rate patterns. Scores may be predicted for different delivery methods, such as vaginal delivery or cesarean delivery, for different time-to-birth intervals. In this way, these scores may be used for decision support for care plans during labor, such as increased monitoring and/or modifying the delivery type.

Wireless pregnancy monitor

A apparatus for automatically detecting a pregnancy status of a patient include a patch for adhering to human skin, a uterine contraction sensor, such as electromyography (EMG), coupled to the patch with at least two electrodes, and an inertial sensor for sensing fetal movement, or Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) sensor, such as Fetal EKG or a Doppler Ultrasound. An electronic circuit is coupled to the patch, the EMG sensor and the inertial sensor, and/or FHR sensor. The circuit provides an output based on a uterine contraction signal from the EMG sensor (or Doppler ultrasound) correlated in time to a fetal movement, and/or fetal heart rate. The apparatus may include a thermometer to aid in automatically providing an indication of a pregnancy complication or ovulation status of the patient, based on the output.

PREGNANCY MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD

Sensor-based systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for monitoring for an aortocaval compression condition in a pregnant woman. A sensor device may be secured directly or indirectly to the woman, which may collect various sensor data related to the woman and/or the fetus. The device may determine a physical orientation of the woman (e.g., upright and/or lateral tilt angles of the woman) and/or biometric parameter(s) of the woman and/or fetus based on the collected sensor data, identify an aortocaval compression condition based on the determined orientation of the woman and/or biometric parameter(s) of the woman and/or fetus, and generate a repositioning alert via an alert mechanism. The disclosed concepts may be implemented, for example, as a personal home-use device, or as a broader system in a hospital or other medical facility, e.g., for monitoring and displaying aortocaval compression related information for multiple patients and/or facilitating patient turn protocols.
