A flexible sensor is provided which has a flexible substrate of polymeric material, a bottom electrode layer arranged on the flexible substrate and configured to be a reference electrode, an active layer of piezoelectric material arranged on the bottom electrode layer, a top electrode layer arranged on the active layer and configured to be connected to a signal conductor, and a flexible coating layer of polymeric material that cooperates with the flexible substrate to encapsulate the bottom electrode layer, the active layer, and the top electrode layer. The flexible sensor has an additional layer of metal material arranged on the flexible coating layer and short-circuited to the bottom electrode layer, the additional layer and the bottom electrode layer acting as an electromagnetic shield for the flexible sensor.

Disclosed are an array type skin-conformal sensor for heart rate and body temperature measurement, the array type skin-conformal sensor including a base sheet configured to be attached to the skin in tight contact therewith, the base sheet being made of a skin-conformal material, a measurement portion formed at one surface of the base sheet, the measurement portion being deformed by deformation of the skin, whereby resistance of the measurement portion is changed, and an electrode pattern formed at one surface of the base sheet, one end of the electrode pattern being connected to the measurement portion to transmit a change in resistance of the measurement portion, and a heart rate and body temperature measurement apparatus using the same. Since the skin-conformal sensor is attached to the skin in tight contact therewith, it is possible to measure the heart rate even though a blood vessel is deeply located.

A wearable device includes a processor and a lower module. The lower module includes a pressure sensor for detecting a mechanical movement of a skin that covers an artery. The mechanical movement of the skin is due to blood flow through the artery. The processor is configured to receive skin movement information from the movement sensor; calculate a pulse front velocity (PFV), which is a velocity of a blood wave as the blood wave passes under the pressure sensor; estimate a pulse wave velocity (PWV) using the PFV; and estimate the blood pressure using the PWV.

The disclosed method measures a plurality of biometric signals by using a radar by: (a) receiving the plurality of biometric signals from the radar; (b) calculating distance information of the received plurality of biometric signals and classifying the same on the basis of a distance; (c) selecting a signal having a largest variance according to a time; (d) further selecting a number of signals among signals having a distance with the signal selected in the step (c) smaller than an arbitrary distance from the distance-based classified signals; (e) converting all signals selected from a time domain to a frequency domain; (f) calculating a reliability of each biometric signal from the converted distance-based signals; and (g) detecting a corresponding biometric signal by selecting the distance-based signal where the calculated reliability is highest.
