METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTION OF DISORDERED BREATHING
Methods and apparatus provide monitoring of a sleep disordered breathing state of a person such as for screening. One or more sensors may be configured for non-contact active and/or passive sensing. The processor(s) (7304, 7006) may extract respiratory effort signal(s) from one or more motion signals generated by active non-contact sensing with the sensor(s). The processor(s) may extract one or more energy band signals from an acoustic audio signal generated by passive non-contact sensing with the sensor(s). The processor(s) may assess the energy band signal(s) and/or the respiratory efforts signal(s) to generate intensity signal(s) representing sleep disorder breathing modulation. The processor(s) may classify feature(s) derived from the one or more intensity signals to generate measure(s) of sleep disordered breathing. The processor may generate a sleep disordered breathing indicator based on the measure(s) of sleep disordered breathing. Some versions may evaluate sensing signal(s) to generate indication(s) of cough event(s) and/or cough type.
System for monitoring patients suffering from respiratory disease comprising a portable medical device and method based on the use of such system
A system for monitoring the state of health of a patient suffering from respiratory disease including a portable medical device, the device including: a) a flow measurement device performing a spirometry measurement, and b) a reflecting photometric sensor performing an oxygen measurement or a measurement of blood oxygen saturation and heart rate. The system includes storage and comparison units in which a personalised plan of action for the patient is stored against which the spirometry and/or oxygen measurement data found are compared, displaying the result of such comparison on the display of a device connected to the internet so as to define the patient's state of health and identify exacerbation of the disease on the basis of data obtained from both such spirometry and oxygen measurements. A method for monitoring the health of a patient suffering from respiratory disease implemented through the system indicated above is also claimed.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMPROVED ASSISTED VENTILATION
Devices and methods for allowing for improved assisted ventilation of a patient. The methods and devices provide a number of benefits over conventional approaches for assisted ventilation. For example, the methods and devices described herein permit blind insertion of a device that can allow ventilation regardless of whether the device is positioned within a trachea or an esophagus.
Systems, devices, and methods for performing breathing exercises, improving lung function, performing pulmonary monitoring, and/or determining lung capacity and peak expiratory flow
Systems, devices, and methods for determining a user's lung capacity may employ a sound-producing breathing device and a recording device such as a microphone included in a user electronic device (e.g., smart phone or tablet computer). A user may inhale or exhale through the sound-producing breathing device, thereby producing a sound that is received by the microphone and communicated to a processor. The processor may analyze the received sound recording to determine one or more sound intensity values over, for example, the duration of the received sound and/or points in time within the sound recording. The sound intensity values may then be used to determine the user's lung capacity.
INHALER SYSTEM
Provided is a system comprising a plurality of inhalers that each include a processor configured to determine a value of a usage parameter relating to use of the respective first inhaler, encrypt data based on the value, and transmit the encrypted data. At least two of the inhalers include different medicament, such as a rescue medicament and a maintenance medicament. The system includes an external device that includes a processor configured to distinguish between the encrypted data of each respective inhaler, determine respective usage information relating to each of the distinct types of medicament based on the respective encrypted data, and control a user interface (e.g., of the external device) to communicate the usage information related to each inhaler and/or each respective type of medicament.
Methods and apparatus for treating respiratory disorders
Methods and apparatus infer or indicate sleep stage(s) of a patient from a respiratory flow rate signal of the patient. The method may include applying a plurality of detection pathways to a signal representing a respiratory flow rate of the patient, wherein each detection pathway is configured to generate start events and end events indicating start times and end times of episodes respectively of a corresponding sleep stage, wherein each start event and each end event has a priority; and combining the start events and end events based on their priorities to produce an indication of the sleep stage of the patient. The apparatus may include a sensor configured to generate a signal representing a property of a flow of air within a patient interface; and a processor configured to implement a method of inferring a sleep stage of the patient from the signal.
