Sympathetic state evaluation for renal neuromodulation therapy

Methods for treating dyspnea with therapeutic renal neuromodulation and associated system and methods are disclosed herein. One aspect of the present technology, for example, is directed to methods that block, reduce, and/or inhibit renal sympathetic nerve activity to achieve a reduction in central sympathetic tone. Renal sympathetic nerve activity may be altered or modulated along the afferent and/or efferent pathway. The achieved reduction in central sympathetic tone may carry therapeutic benefits for patients with dyspnea.

The present invention is related to the field of bio/chemical sensing, assays and applications. Particularly, the present invention is related to collecting a small amount of a vapor condensate sample (e.g. the exhaled breath condensate (EBC) from a subject of a volume as small as 10 fL (femto-Liter) in a single drop), preventing or significantly reducing an evaporation of the collected vapor condensate sample, analyzing the sample, analyzing the sample by mobile-phone, and performing such collection and analysis by a person without any professionals.

SPIROMETRY SYSTEM FOR MITIGATING PHYSICAL USER ERRORS

A spirometry system operable to measure airflow through an air passage defined by a mouthpiece including one or more contact sensors configured to generate at least one mouth contact signal indicative of user mouth contact with the proximal portion of the mouthpiece. The spirometry system can further include an airflow sensor configured to generate an airflow signal corresponding to airflow within the air passage, and processor circuitry communicatively coupled to the one or more contact sensors and to the airflow sensor. The processor circuitry can be configured to determine an indication of an amount of user mouth contact for use with a measurement of airflow by the processor circuitry.

System and method for monitoring resuscitation or respiratory mechanics of a patient

A system and method for monitoring resuscitation and respiratory mechanics of a patient is provided. A pressure sensor detects air pressure within an air-flow path of a resuscitator and generates a first detection signal in response thereto. A flow-rate sensor detects the flow-rate within the air-flow path and generates a second detection signal In response thereto. A processor receives and processes the first and second detection signals using an algorithm to identify a ventilation rate, a lung pressure, and an air volume corresponding to the respiratory air. A report is generated of real-time feedback about respiration of the patient that includes the ventilation rate, lung pressure, and air volume.

Rescue performance metrics for CPR and traumatic brain injury

A system for providing a visual summary of a condition of a patient when traumatic brain injury (TBI) is suspected or diagnosed includes at least one patient condition sensor configured to sense data representative of a patient condition parameter of interest for a TBI patient; at least one airflow sensor configured to sense data representative of ventilations provided to the patient; at least one visual display for providing the visual summary to a user; and at least one controller. The at least one controller is configured to cause the visual display to provide the visual summary. The visual summary can include at least one visual representation of at least one patient condition parameter for each time interval of a plurality of time intervals, at least one visual representation of ventilation information, and a visual indication of when at least one patient condition parameter is outside of a target range.
