Cardiac Device, Method and Computer Program Product
A cardiac device is provided including a measuring electrode, a signal-processing unit and a post-processing unit. The measuring electrode is adapted to be positioned within the blood pool of a human or an animal heart, in order to measure a depolarization-signal. The signal-processing unit is connected to the measuring electrode and is adapted to remove signal components with frequencies lower than a cut-off frequency from the measured depolarization-signal. The post-processing unit is connected to the signal-processing unit and is adapted to determine, based on the Brody effect, a measure for a ventricular volume of the heart based on the modified depolarization-signal. Furthermore, a method for the determination of a measure for a ventricular volume of a heart and a computer program product for performing the steps of this method are provided.
DEVICES AND METHODS TO MEASURE GASTRIC RESIDUAL VOLUME
Devices and methods to measure gastric residual volume (GRV) are described where at least one additive component (a GRV indicator) may be dispersed in a body lumen such as a stomach. The GRV indicator may changes a physical (chemical, electrical, thermal, mechanical, optical, etc.) characteristic within the stomach by a measureable degree. This degree of change and/or the rate of return to the previous state, may be used to determine the GRV of a patient. The determined GRV can also be used to automatically or semi-automatically control the patient's feeding rate and/or volume and/or frequency to adequately nourish the patient but avoid complications. The physical characteristic(s) may also be used to detect that the feeding catheter or tube is in the correct location (ie stomach vs lung or esophagus.
METHOD FOR DETECTING RADIOLOGICAL PROGRESSION IN CANCER SURVEILLANCE
A method and computer-based system is provided that assists physicians in detecting early tumor growth and allowing modification of treatment to have a positive impact on medical management, patient morbidity, outcomes and survival times. The method comprises measuring tumor volumes from radiological images to predict growth by a statistical method. The methods allow detection of increases in tumor size earlier than is currently possible and, therefore, advantageous in modifying or optimizing treatment.
BRACE HAVING INTEGRATED REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING TECHNOLOGY AND METHOD OF USING SAME
A brace configured for attachment to a joint of a subject is provided. The brace includes a first arm having a first end and a second end. The brace includes a second arm having a first end and a second end. The brace includes a hinge assembly coupling the first end of the first arm with the first end of the second arm such that the first arm and the second arm are movable to different relative angular orientations. The brace includes a potentiometer coupled to the hinge assembly. A method of monitoring a relative angular orientation of a first arm of a brace relative to a second arm of the brace is also provided. The method includes monitoring an output of a potentiometer coupled to one of the first arm and the second arm.
Systems and methods for image segmentation
A system for image segmentation is provided. The system may obtain a target image including an ROI, and segment a preliminary region representative of the ROI from the target image using a first ROI segmentation model corresponding to a first image resolution. The system may segment a target region representative of the ROI from the preliminary region using a second ROI segmentation model corresponding to a second image resolution. At least one model of the first and second ROI segmentation models may at least include a first convolutional layer and a second convolutional layer downstream to the first convolutional layer. A count of input channels of the first convolutional layer may be greater than a count of output channels of the first convolutional layer, and a count of input channels of the second convolutional layer may be smaller than a count of output channels of the second convolutional layer.
Systems and methods for determining blood flow characteristics using flow ratio
Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient which may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of an anatomical structure of a patient; create a model representing at least a portion of the anatomical structure; create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic within the anatomical structure; determine a first blood flow rate at at least one point of interest in the model; modify the model; determine a second blood flow rate at a point in the modified model corresponding to the at least one point of interest in the model; and determine a fractional flow reserve value as a ratio of the second blood flow rate to the first blood flow rate.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE DETECTION AND MITIGATION THEREOF
Embodiments described herein are directed to non-invasive detection of peripheral arterial disease. For example, a measuring apparatus is used to measure a patient's calf circumference. The measuring apparatus has text feature(s) or indicator(s) printed thereupon that indicate the likelihood that the patient has peripheral arterial disease based on the measured calf circumference. The assessment may be further refined by using a software application that assesses the likelihood of the patient having peripheral arterial disease using at least the calf circumference measurement, along with other information/data. Based on the assessment, a healthcare practitioner may prescribe a walking program for the patient to follow. A software application may track compliance of the walking program and provide escalating reminders to the patient if the patient continues to fail to comply with the prescribed walking program.
BREAST-MEASURING DEVICE
In one aspect, a device for measuring breast volume is disclosed, which comprises a housing comprising an enclosure having an opening, a flexible membrane sealingly covering said opening so as to provide an enclosed space within said enclosure, a gas disposed within said enclosed space, and at least one pressure sensor coupled to said enclosure so as to measure pressure of said gas within said enclosed space. The flexible membrane is configured to reversibly flex into said enclosed space in response to pressure of a breast against the membrane. The flexure of the membrane causes a change in the pressure and volume of the gas within said enclosed space.
SIZE DETERMINATION APPARATUS AND SIZE DETERMINATION METHOD FOR CLOTHING WITH CUPS
A brassiere size determination apparatus for clothing with cups covering a user's bust includes an acquisition unit and a determination unit. The acquisition unit acquires a first volume of at least a lower part of the bust. The determination unit determines a cup size of clothing with cups based on the first volume of the lower part.
