LCWG STEERED LASER TRANSMITTER AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS SENSOR WITH WAVELENGTH CONVERSION
A steerable laser transmitter and situational awareness sensor uses a liquid crystal waveguide (LCWG) to steer a spot-beam onto a conical mirror, which in turn redirects the spot-beam to scan a FOV. The spot-beam passes through one or more annular sections of non-linearly material (NLM) formed along the axis and around the conical mirror. Each NLM section converts the wavelength of the spot-beam to a different wavelength while preserving the steering of the spot-beam. The LCWG may shape or move the spot-beam along the axis of the conic mirror to sequentially, time or time and spatially multiplex the spot-beam between the original and different wavelengths. This provides multispectral capability from a single laser source. The transmitter also supports steering the spot-beam at a wavelength at which the LCWG cannot steer directly.
MULTI-MODE RECEPTION MINIATURISED ENTANGLEMENT SOURCE SYSTEM BASED ON PPKTP CRYSTAL
A miniaturized PPKTP crystal-based entanglement source system using multi-mode reception is provided, which includes a pump light source, a pump light transmission module, an entanglement device, a first collection device, and a second collection device. In the entanglement source system, entangled lights are received by using multi-mode optical fibers, and an entangled light processing scheme of combining a temporal filtering technology and a spatial filtering technology is applied into a collecting device at one side of the entanglement source system, to form asymmetric device structures in the entanglement source system, to enable multi-mode reception.
Wavelength Converter
A wavelength converter stabilizes output light intensity in which the light coupling efficiency to a light waveguide core is not easily varied. A mounting structure is adopted in which a substrate of a wavelength conversion element is a material with a lower refractive index for signal light than that of the core, and a support structure that suppresses elastic deformation by supporting the element through a contact at a tip end surface at a position corresponding to both end portions of the core at the occurrence of elastic deformation due to the thermal stress of the element is provided. The support structure is provided at a portion apart from a temperature control element at the top surface of a metal housing bottom surface member, and its top surface is disposed in the vicinity of a portion corresponding to both end portions of the core of the element in a support member.
OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE STRUCTURE WITH PARTIALLY OVERLAPPING LOOPS IN DIRECTION DEPENDENT MATERIAL
An optical waveguide structure comprises a nonlinear optical waveguide comprising a set of segments, a set of extension optical waveguides, and a set of wavelength selective couplers that couples light between set of segments in the nonlinear optical waveguide and the set of extension optical waveguides based on a wavelength of light.
LASER SYSTEM FOR NONLINEAR PULSE COMPRESSION AND GRATING COMPRESSOR
A laser system for nonlinear pulse compression includes a laser source configured to generate laser pulses with a pulse energy of at least 50 mJ, a spectral broadening device for spectrally broadening the high-energy laser pulses using self-phase modulation, and a compression device including a grating compressor having at least two diffraction gratings and configured to compress the spectrally broadened high-energy laser pulses. The laser system is configured to generate a pulse duration of the high-energy laser pulses of less than 100 fs.
A RESONANT-MICROCHIP-CAVITY-BASED SYSTEM FOR GENERATING A LASER BEAM VIA A NONLINEAR EFFECT
A system is provided for generating a laser beam via non-linear effects, including: a monofrequency continuous-wave laser source; and an external resonant cavity referred to as a microchip cavity. The microchip cavity is composite insofar as it is a unitary assembly of a plurality of materials g: at least one nonlinear crystal; an entrance mirror; a concave mirror deposited on a material fixed to the nonlinear crystal—the material on which the concave mirror is deposited is different from the constituent material of the nonlinear crystal; a first thermoelectric module for controlling the temperature of the nonlinear crystal; and at least one second thermoelectric module for controlling at least the temperature of the material on which the concave mirror is deposited.
HIGHLY EFFICIENT, SINGLE-PASS, HARMONIC GENERATOR WITH ROUND OUTPUT BEAM
An extra cavity harmonic generator system may produce a round, non-astigmatic third harmonic output beam from a nominally round, non-astigmatic, diffraction limited input fundamental beam. The system may include a second harmonic generation crystal. An input fundamental beam size is expanded in a non-walkoff direction for the SHG crystal at the SHG crystal input face. A higher harmonic generation crystal has an output face oriented at an oblique angle of incidence in a non-walkoff direction for the HHG crystal such that an output higher harmonic beam size is contracted in this direction. Expansion of the input fundamental beam at the SHG crystal input face exceeds reduction of third harmonic beam at the HHG crystal output face.
MULTI-MODE CAVITIES FOR HIGH-EFFICIENCY NONLINEAR WAVELENGTH CONVERSION FORMED WITH OVERLAP OPTIMIZATION
A dual frequency optical resonator configured for optical coupling to light having a first frequency ω1. The dual frequency optical resonator includes a plurality of alternating layer pairs stacked in a post configuration, each layer pair having a first layer formed of a first material and a second layer formed of a second material, the first material and second materials being different materials. The first layer has a first thickness and the second layer has a second thickness, the thicknesses of the first and second layer being selected to create optical resonances at the first frequency ω1 and a second frequency ω2 which is a harmonic of ω1 and the thicknesses of the first and second layer also being selected to enhance nonlinear coupling between the first frequency ω1 and a second frequency ω2.
TRANSPARENT DISPLAY WITH EYE PROTECTION
A transparent display provides eye protection from lasers and other high intensity light sources. The transparent display allows users to view objects clearly through the display while also presenting text, graphics or video on the display surface. Simultaneously, the display assembly comprises a component that provides eye protection against high power radiation sources. The transparent display with eye protection provides both protection from high power light sources and an additional cockpit display surface for presentation of information including graphical images, symbology, video, text, and other data.
Double lens device for tunable harmonic generation of laser beams in KBBF/RBBF crystals or other non-linear optic materials
A method and apparatus to generate harmonically related laser wavelengths includes a pair of lenses at opposing faces of a non-linear optical material. The lenses are configured to promote incoming and outgoing beams to be normal to each outer lens surface over a range of acceptance angles of the incoming laser beam. This reduces reflection loss for higher efficiency operation. Additionally, the lenses allow a wider range of wavelengths for lasers for more universal application. Examples of the lenses include plano-cylindrical and plano-spherical form factors.
