Sensing bending of multiple joints
Examples are disclosed that relate to sensor devices configured to sense bending in multiple joints. One example provides a sensor device configured to span a first articulable joint and a second articulable joint. The sensor device comprises a plurality of electrodes arranged in a stack and connected to a base. The plurality of electrodes comprise a first electrode arranged at a first joint region of the sensor device that is configured to be positioned at the first articulable joint, a second electrode arranged at a second joint region of the sensor device that is configured to be positioned at the second articulable joint, and a reference electrode.
DETECTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF HEAD IMPACTS
Systems and methods are provided for determining an acceleration at a location of interest within one of a user's head and neck. At least one of linear acceleration data, angular acceleration data, angular velocity data, and orientation data is produced using at least one sensing device substantially rigidly attached to an ambient-accessible surface of the user's head. The location of interest is represented relative to a position of the at least one sensing device as a time-varying function. An acceleration at the location of interest is calculated as a function of the data produced at the sensing device and the time-varying function representing the location of interest. The calculated acceleration at the location of interest is provided to at least one of the user and an observer in a human-perceptible form.
Method and Device for Diagnosing Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury Susceptibility
Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for the purpose of quantitatively determining the susceptibility of a human subject to injure their Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). A method for determining injury susceptibility scores or risk categories includes determining hip extension angles and knee varus angles during the performance of a stork test and determining hip abduction angles during a squat test. Determination of angles during certain movements may be achieved using various systems and devices, including wearable devices.
Toe correction apparatus and method for manufacturing the same
A toe correction apparatus and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The toe correction apparatus includes: a first sensor attachable to a first side of a hallux proximate to a second toe for measuring first pressure information between the hallux and the second toe; and a processor, configured to determine a degree to which the hallux bends to the second toe according to the first pressure information, and control an inflation amount or a deflation amount of an adjustable airbag between the hallux and the second toe according to the degree to which the hallux bends to the second toe.
Rotation monitoring system and method
A rotation monitoring system may be attached to a limb and can identify ranges of motion that are associated with injuries or poor performance. In some embodiments, the device is designed to monitor flexion and orientation of joints and limbs, developed specifically around identifying stress concentrating behavior on the ACL. Tests performed show that the designed device can read flexion and orientation of the knee, is durable enough to be used in real-world conditions, and does not impede on the subject's movements.
TECHNIQUES FOR TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT ACCORDING TO A CALIBRATED TEMPERATURE
Methods, systems, and devices for temperature calibration are described. A device may support temperature calibration for a set of temperature sensors. For example, a wearable device may activate a set of temperature sensors associated with the wearable device. The set of temperature sensors may include a primary temperature sensor and one or more secondary temperature sensors. The wearable device may determine a trigger to calibrate the one or more secondary temperature sensors based on one or more conditions, and calibrate the one or more secondary temperature sensors using the primary temperature sensor based on the trigger. Based on the calibrating, the wearable device may process temperature data associated with a user that is received from one or more of the primary temperature sensor or the one or more secondary temperature sensors.
ANOMALY DETECTION DEVICE, DETERMINATION SYSTEM, ANOMALY DETECTION METHOD, AND PROGRAM RECORDING MEDIUM
An anomaly detection device that includes an extraction unit that acquires sensor data from a sensor installed in footwear and extract a gait feature amount characteristic in gait of a pedestrian wearing the footwear by using the sensor data, and a detection unit that detects an anomaly in a foot of the pedestrian walking wearing the footwear based on the gait feature amount extracted by the extraction unit.
System and device for guiding and detecting motions of 3-DOF rotational target joint
Examples of a device for guiding and detecting a motion of a target joints and a motion assistance system such motion guiding devices are described. The motion guiding and detecting device comprises a motion generator and a motion transfer and target interfacing unit to transfer the motion generated by the motion generator to the target joint. The system further includes a motion detection and feedback unit that interfaces with the target, and a controller that interfaces with both the feedback unit and the motion generator to control and coordinate the motion of the motion generator and the target joint.
MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ASSESSING AND REHABILITATING A JOINT
A medical device for assessing and/or rehabilitating a human joint of an extremity includes a joint brace comprising a first support for coupling to an upper part of the extremity, a second support for coupling to a lower part of the extremity, and a rotatable joint connecting the first and second supports, and a mechanical device coupled to the first and second supports, the mechanical device configured for moving one or more of the first and second supports so as to rotate about the joint. In another alternative the medical device can include sensors located for making angle measurements between the first and second supports and for recording movement data and a computing device for receiving and storing the angle measurements and the movement data and for transmitting said data via a radio transmitter.
