20230078481 · 2023-03-16 · ·

A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a ball and socket joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.

Mouth Guard Having Internal Components For Sensing Impact Forces

A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.

A device comprising: at least one of an accelerometer or a gyroscope and a processor. The at least one of the accelerometer or gyroscope is capable of measuring movements related to respiration of a user of the device. The processor is configured to: receive data from at least one of the accelerometer or gyroscope related to the movements of the user; dynamically filter the data; and provide a respiratory signal regarding the respiration of the user. The data from at least one of the accelerometer or gyroscope is provided without regard to a position of the device relative to the user or a position of the user.

WRITING INSTRUMENT, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSPARENT MONITORING AND ANALYSIS OF WRITING

A writing instrument that includes a writing element for depositing a writing material on a support and a plurality of sensors including at least a force sensor and a movement sensor, a communication unit that exchanges data with a remote device a control unit connected to the sensors and to the communication unit in order to transmit to the remote device the measurements provided by the sensors, a memory unit connected to the control unit that stores one or more measurements from the sensors; and a hollow casing that contains at least part of the writing element so that the writing end is exposed, and also houses the sensors, the control unit, the memory unit and the communication unit.

IDENTIFYING NEAR-FALL EVENTS BASED ON INERTIAL MEASUREMENT UNIT DATA

A sensing and processing system includes a plurality of wearable sensing devices each including an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to be positioned on a subject and generate accelerometer signals and gyroscope signals. The system includes a processor to identify near-fall events indicative of the subject nearly falling down based on the generated accelerometer signals and gyroscope signals, and wherein the processor is to generate, for each of the near-fall events, subject response data indicative of a recovery response of the subject to recover from the near-fall event.

ENHANCED HUMAN ACTIVITY RECOGNITION

The present disclosure is directed to a device with enhanced human activity recognition. The device detects a human activity using one more motion sensors, and enhances the detected human activity depending on whether the device is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment. The device utilizes one or more electrostatic charge sensors to determine whether the device is in an indoor environment or an outdoor environment. The device may also exclude gyroscope data when performing human activity recognition, and instead utilize electrostatic charge variation data in conjunction with acceleration data to perform human activity recognition.

Pulse sensor, system, and method for using a pulse sensor

A pulse sensor is capable of measuring a pulse rate of a wearer at a peripheral artery. In an embodiment, the pulse sensor includes a magnet supported to move responsive to an arterial pulse and a magnetometer configured to detect changes in a magnetic field produced by the magnet. The magnet may include a plurality of ferromagnetic particles disposed in or on a flexible substrate configured to be held adjacent to human skin subject to arterial palpation and a magnetic sensor configured to sense movement of the ferromagnetic particles. A system and method may measure hydration includes using a pulse sensor to measure pulse rate and modulation.
