Apparatus for monitoring a clinical condition of a subject is described. A motion sensor senses motion of the subject without contacting or viewing the subject, and generates a sensed motion signal responsive to the sensed motion. A signal analyzer is adapted to analyze the motion signal to identify a cough in the subject. Other applications are also described.

Control method, controller, and device

A method of controlling a device located in a predetermined space includes: obtaining sleep information of a person present in a first space from a biological sensor disposed in the first space, the sleep information indicating a sleep state of the person and the first space includes a first device; determining, by a processor, a first illuminance level to be set for the first device based on the obtained sleep information and a first database indicating a correspondence between the sleep state and a target illuminance level of a corresponding device, the target illuminance level of the corresponding device being a predetermined illuminance level which does not awake a sleeping person at the sleep state and provides visibility for an awake person; and transmitting, to the first device, a first command for setting the first illuminance level in the first device as an illuminance upper-limit value.

METHOD FOR DETECTING BODY MOVEMENTS OF A SLEEPING PERSON

A method for detecting body movements of a sleeping person includes continuously creating three-dimensional images using an imaging unit and providing distance measurement values pixel by pixel. A two or three-dimensional height profile has points on a surface, or on, or next to the person. The profile is stored and available for each time. A range indicating a body part or area depending on a reference point or range is selected as a first region of interest. Periods of changes of the profile of the first region exceeding a first threshold value, and intervals therebetween are determined. Noise values of the profile are determined pixel by pixel for the intervals. Further changes of the profile exceeding a second threshold value in the intervals are determined, considering the noise value pixel by pixel. The periods and further periods of changes of the profile are registered as body movements.

Methods and systems for treating sleep disordered breathing by stimulating nerves that innervate the palatoglossus and/or the palatopharyngeus muscle are provided. Such therapy can be used in conjunction with hypoglossal nerve stimulation.

Vehicle temperature sensor systems

A vehicle having a system which includes at least one sensor contained therein. The systems utilizes conditional probability to determine if an occupant (i.e. child and/or animal) is in the vehicle in the absence of an adult. The system used conditional probability to predict the likelihood that a child and/or animal was left unsupervised within the vehicle. The system collects data from existing vehicle sensors (door sensor, weight sensor, seatbelt sensor, face detection sensor, input sensors or any other suitable sensor already imbedded within the hardware of the vehicle) and uses that data to assume if an adult, child and/or animal is present. A motion sensor and a temperature sensor (infrared camera) are further utilized to determine the presence of a child/animal and the temperature of a child. Input from the motion sensor and/or temperature sensor (infrared camera) are utilized to provide warnings or to take corrective measures.
