There is provided a method and system of monitoring a respiratory condition of a subject, the method including obtaining input data indicative of an alternating signal representative of change of length of at least part of a contour along a subject's chest wall and/or abdominal wall during one or more breathing cycles, the input data generated by periodically measuring the change of length during the breathing cycles; analyzing the input data to detect an irregular breathing pattern, the irregular breathing pattern represented by at least one local change in the form of the alternating signal during an expiratory phase of at least one of the one or more breathing cycles; and determining a respiratory condition of the subject based on a result of the detection.

Display Of Monitored Patient Position Information

A system for monitoring medical conditions including pressure ulcers, pressure-induced ischemia and related medical conditions comprises at least one sensor adapted to detect one or more patient characteristic including at least position, orientation, temperature, acceleration, moisture, resistance, stress, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood oxygenation, a host for processing the data received from the sensors together with historical patient data to develop an assessment of patient condition and suggested course of treatment, including either suspending or adjusting turn schedule based on various types of patient movement. The sensor can include one or more of bi-axial or tri-axial accelerometers, magnetometers and altimeters as well as resistive, inductive, capacitive, magnetic and other sensing devices, depending on whether the sensor is located on the patient or the support surface, and for what purpose. In some embodiments, the sensor can be self-contained in that it can detect orientation and suggest repositioning independent of a host.

System and method for non-contact monitoring of physiological parameters

A system and method for monitoring one or more physiological parameters of a subject under free-living conditions is provided. The system includes a camera configured to capture and record a video sequence including at least one image frame of at least one region of interest (ROI) of the subject's body. A computer in signal communication with the camera to receive signals transmitted by the camera representative of the video sequence includes a processor configured to process the signals associated with the video sequence recorded by the camera and a display configured to display data associated with the signals.

Disclosed are devices and methods for measuring lung respiration volume including processor means for receiving a detected series of heart beats, measuring variability between a period of successive beats, identifying the start and finish of successive breaths by the maxima and minima in the period, identifying the amplitude of variability of period between successive breaths, and thereby determining a value for a measurement of an extent of lung respiration, and output means for generating the value for the measurement of the extent of lung respiration. The disclosed devices and methods have applications in different medical fields. The disclosed devices can be utilised as wearable devices, wherein the signals are generated and may be processed remotely or locally.

AN APPARATUS FOR USE IN INDUCTIVE SENSING

An apparatus (20) for use in inductive sensing includes a loop antenna (26) and a signal generator (24) for driving the antenna, these forming a resonator circuit (22). The resonator circuit is drivable in a drive state in which the antenna is driven at resonance to thereby generate electromagnetic signals. The arrangement further includes a switching means (28) for switchably inhibiting the drive state of the antenna This allows in use controllable switching of the antenna in and out of the drive state to thereby control switching signal generation on and off.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ASSESSING HEART AND RESPIRATORY DISORDERS

The present disclosure describes systems and methods for assessing heart and respiratory disorders in a patient using a video analysis tool to analyze video data taken of the patients neck region. The video analysis tool allows for an accurate, objective assessment of the patient. In some aspects of the present disclosure, a clinician may capture video data of the patients neck region and run the video analysis tool. Additionally or alternatively, the system may be implemented remotely whereby the video analysis tool may be executed remotely from the video recording device. The video analysis tool extracts pulsatile signals in the neck region from the video data and determines pulsatile signals of interest for assessing heart and respiratory disorders in the patient. The video analysis tool generates assessment data based on the pulsatile signals of interest.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A SLEEP POSTURE OF A SUBJECT

A system and method for determining a sleep posture of a subject uses a three-axis accelerometer coupled to the subject. A plurality of three-axis acceleration signals of the three-axis accelerometer are analyzed over time and from this analysis a reference craniocaudal rotation axis is derived. For an acceleration measurement of interest (i.e. at a particular point in time) a rotation angle can then be determined about the reference craniocaudal rotation axis, thus indicating a sleep posture relative to that reference craniocaudal rotation axis.
