System and method to monitor, guide, and evaluate breathing, utilizing posture and diaphragm sensor signals
Device, system and method to monitor user breathing patterns utilizing posture and diaphragm (breathing) sensor signals. The user worn device comprises a housing attached to a retractable belt that is worn around the user's trunk. The housing contains both posture and breathing sensors. The device monitors the output signals of these sensors and measures the state of both the user's posture and diaphragm (e.g. changes in the belt's length or force on the belt as a function of user breathing) to analyze breathing signals. The system's processor receives, processes, and transmits sensor signal data, and can also calibrate and interpret these signals utilizing various algorithms. In a preferred embodiment, the posture sensor is an accelerometer, and the retractable belt winds around a spring tensioned spool in the device's housing. The software can produce posture adjusted user respiration data, and can also be used for breath training and other purposes.

System and Method for Remotely Monitoring Physiological Functions
A system and method for remotely monitoring an individual, in accordance with some embodiments of the invention. More particularly, one or more physiological functions and/or physical activities of the individual may be monitored. In order to monitor the individual, a range to, and/or a range rate (i.e., velocity) of, one or more points on one or more surfaces of the individual (e.g., skin, clothing, lips, etc.) may be determined over time. Based on the determinations of the range and/or range rate of the points on the surfaces of the individual, the one or more physiological functions and/or physical activities of the individual may be monitored. This may enable the physiological functions and/or physical activities to be monitored remotely from the individual without access or proximity to the individual.
Apparatus and method for four dimensional soft tissue navigation in endoscopic applications
A surgical instrument navigation system is provided that visually simulates a virtual volumetric scene of a body cavity of a patient from a point of view of a surgical instrument residing in the cavity of the patient. The surgical instrument navigation system includes: a surgical instrument; an imaging device which is operable to capture scan data representative of an internal region of interest within a given patient; a tracking subsystem that employs electro-magnetic sensing to capture in real-time position data indicative of the position of the surgical instrument; a data processor which is operable to render a volumetric, perspective image of the internal region of interest from a point of view of the surgical instrument; and a display which is operable to display the volumetric perspective image of the patient.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING CHRONIC DISEASE
A method and apparatus monitors chronic disease state of a patient. The method may include extracting, in a processor, for each of a plurality of monitoring sessions, a respiratory feature from a respiratory signal indicative of the patient's respiration during the monitoring session, the respiratory signal derived from at least one sensor; and computing, in a processor, a stability measure of the patient for a monitoring session, the stability measure representing an indication of a change point having occurred at the monitoring session in a statistical distribution of the respiratory feature.

MULTI SENSOR RADIO FREQUENCY DETECTION
Radio frequency motion sensors may be configured for operation in a common vicinity so as to reduce interference. In some versions, interference may be reduced by timing and/or frequency synchronization. In some versions, a master radio frequency motion sensor may transmit a first radio frequency (RF) signal. A slave radio frequency motion sensor may determine a second radio frequency signal which minimizes interference with the first RF frequency. In some versions, interference may be reduced with additional transmission adjustments such as pulse width reduction or frequency and/or timing dithering differences. In some versions, apparatus may be configured with multiple sensors in a configuration to emit the radio frequency signals in different directions to mitigate interference between emitted pulses from the radio frequency motion sensors.

Apparatus for determining a motion relation
The invention relates to an apparatus for determining a relation between a surface motion of a body (BD) and an object motion of an object (OB) within the body (BD). The apparatus comprises a first sensing unit configured to acquire a first position signal indicative of a position of a first element placed at the location on the surface of the body with the surface motion; a second sensing unit configured to acquire a second position signal indicative of a position of a second element attached to an interventional device and placed on or in the object, wherein the first position signal and the second position signal are acquired during a given duration synchronously; and a third unit for calculating the relation between the surface motion and the object motion based on the first position signal and the second position signal. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for determining the motion relation.
