Hearing assessment method and system
A system and a method for a healthcare provider to easily, accurately and efficiently provide a hearing test and a pressure test, i.e., a hearing assessment, for their patients, in a way that accurately detects hearing loss and provides recommendations for seeking further assistance from qualified hearing health specialists is provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERSONALIZED FITTING OF HEARING AIDS
Disclosed are system and methods for automated fitting of a hearing aid, through an automated hearing test based upon which a suitable set of hearing aid parameters is determined.
Systems and methods for providing personalized audio replay on a plurality of consumer devices
Systems and methods for processing an audio signal are provided for server-mediated sound personalization on a plurality of consumer devices. A user hearing test is conducted on one of a plurality of audio output devices. Next, the hearing data of the user's hearing test is outputted to a server and stored on the server's database along with a unique user identifier. Next, a set of DSP parameters for a sound personalization algorithm are calculated from the user's hearing data. The DSP parameter set is then outputted to one of a plurality of audio output devices when the user logs in with their unique identifier on an application on the audio output device.
HIGH-PRECISION TEMPORAL MEASUREMENT OF VIBRO-ACOUSTIC EVENTS IN SYNCHRONISATION WITH A SOUND SIGNAL ON A TOUCH-SCREEN DEVICE
A method for determining the tap time of a user in response to an auditory stimulus. The method includes: playing back the auditory stimulus corresponding to a reference audio signal, recording the reference audio signal and one or more vibro-acoustic events, the vibro-acoustic events following one or more taps by the user on a touch screen of the device in reaction to the reference audio signal, detecting the reference audio signal in the recorded audio signal, the recorded audio signal is recorded by a microphone of the touch-screen device, during the step of detecting the reference audio signal in the recorded audio signal, placing the reference audio signal and the recorded audio signal on a common time scale, filtering the detection and normalizing it to keep only the frequencies corresponding to the vibro-acoustic events generated by the user's actions on the touch screen, and detecting the vibro-acoustic events in which instants associated with the vibro-acoustic events are identified in the signal obtained after filtering.
Adaptive, integrated, and interactive education and communication system for people with hearing loss and hearing healthcare providers and related methods
A system, device, and wireless computer technology-implemented method for providing hearing healthcare education and communication for a patient, his/her communication partner, and a hearing care provider. The system provides the patient at least one educational and experiential module and a method for assessing the patient's comprehension of the module's lessons. The system further provides the patient with a method to select personal hearing aid and communication goals; a method to evaluate his/her progress on achieving each personal goal; and a method to report his/her hearing experiences. The system further provides a method to compare data reported by the patient to personalized thresholds. When one or more of the patient's reports do not meet the thresholds, the system sends automated alerts to the hearing care provider to encourage prompt remedial action and sends automated reminders to the patient to improve the patient's ability to achieve his/her personal goals.
Auditory stimulus for auditory rehabilitation
Generally, a method performed by one or more processing devices includes generating a graphical user interface that when rendered on a display of the one or more processing devices renders a visual representation of an environment and a visual representation of an object in the environment; retrieving an auditory stimulus with one or more auditory attributes indicative of a location of a virtual target in the environment; receiving information specifying movement of the object in the environment; determining, based on the movement of the object, a proximity of the object to the virtual target; adjusting, based on the proximity, one or more values of the one or more auditory attributes of the auditory stimulus; and causing the one or more processing devices to play the auditory stimulus using the adjusted one or more values.
Auditory perceptual systems
A new hearing profile assessment plays each of a plurality of frequency tones multiple times at a plurality of loudness levels. For each frequency, the patient indicates which tones that they can hear, establishing minimum-amplitude thresholds for each frequency. The assessment adapts loudness levels until the patient indicates consistent minimum-amplitude thresholds for each frequency. Also, a new system for training the hearing of a subject is disclosed. The system instructs the subject to vocalize various sound items and remember the sounds that they vocalize. The system plays either recorded samples of the subject's own voice, or comparison samples of a synthesized voice or other's vocalizations of the same sound items. The system prompts the subject to compare the played samples with the sounds they remembered vocalizing. The system uses the feedback to adjust sound processing parameters for a hearing aid, cochlear implant, sound output devices, or a training program.
System comprising a cochlear stimulation device and a second hearing stimulation device and a method for adjustment according to a response to combined stimulation
There is provided a system comprising a first device for neural stimulation of a cochlea of a patient's ipsilateral ear; a second hearing stimulation device selected from the group consisting of a device for neural stimulation of the cochlea of the patient's contralateral ear, a device for acoustic stimulation of the patient's ipsilateral ear and a device for acoustic stimulation of the patient's contralateral ear and comprising means for stimulation of the respective ear; and a fitting device for adjusting at least one of the first stimulation device and the second stimulation device according to a response of the patient to combined stimulation by the first stimulation device and the second stimulation device.
SYSTEM FOR DEFINING AND EXECUTING AUDIOMETRIC TESTS
A hearing test system comprising: a computer system comprising a visual display for a user to select out of a plurality of sound types a desired sound type of a test sound for transmission to a subject and to select out of a plurality of computer-based input events a desired computer-based input event for registering a subject response to said test sound.
ACOUSTICALLY PROBED OVER-THE-EAR HEARING ASSESSMENT DEVICES AND METHODS
An over-the-ear hearing assessment device and a method for evaluating the performance of over-the-ear hearing devices are described. An exemplary over-the-ear hearing assessment device includes an ear cup defining an interior volume and positionable at least partially over the ear of a user. The ear cup includes a shell, a cushion, and an acoustic port extending from an exterior to the interior volume of the ear cup. The acoustic port is sealably engagable with a microphone.
