A handheld radio device that incorporates within equipment typically carried by a first-responder but with added functionality which enables assessments of a subject's cognitive, auditory, visual, and speech function. In addition to providing two-way tactical radio functionality, the handheld radio device operates to generate haptic, audible, and visual stimuli, and then assess a subject utilizing the handheld radio device based on the subject's responses to the stimuli on the interfaces and sensors of the handheld radio device. Because this functionality is provided in equipment this is already typically carried by the first-responder, assessments that are more forward-deployed and closer to the point and time of injury, exposure, or period of interest can occur.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VALIDATION OF HEARING AIDS FOR INFANTS USING A SPEECH SIGNAL
A system for validation of a hearing aid performance, especially in small children is disclosed. The validation of the performance of hearing aids after having being fitted to a small child who is not able to subjectively provide responses to sounds presented to the child via the hearing aids, is instead done in an objective manner, by using a naturally occurring signal, which has been modulated in order to create an ASSR evoking speech stimulus which is not considered as noise by a hearing aid.
Systems and methods for measuring evoked responses from a brain of a patient
An illustrative system includes a behind-the-ear (BTE) sound processor configured to be worn by a patient behind an ear of the patient. The BTE sound processor is configured to direct a cochlear implant implanted within the patient to apply electrical stimulation to the patient. The system further includes a conductive contact configured to detect a signal representative of an evoked response generated by a brain of the patient. The conductive contact is integrated with the BTE sound processor so as to be located between the BTE sound processor and an external surface of a head of the patient while the BTE sound processor is worn by the patient behind the ear of the patient. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.

A system and method of providing an acoustic stimulus for a human subject so as to evoke an auditory response is presented. The method includes creating a chirp signal, wherein creating the chirp signal includes adding a plurality of frequency signals, each frequency signal delayed within the chirp signal based on its associated frequency specific basilar membrane delay determined as a function of measured in vivo frequency specific basilar membrane delays.
A METHOD FOR ELECTROMOTILITY MEASUREMENT OF OUTER HAIR CELLS
The present invention is an improved method for measuring the electromotile movement of outer hair cells (OHC) which are used in assessing the condition of the OHC and the state of the acoustic path of OHC. The obtained measurement results may be further processed either by comparing them to a standard signal obtained from the electromotile movement of OHC of averaging of a large number of measurements from normative people or by comparing them to a model. The measuring method: Stimulated OHC emit acoustic and electromagnetic signals as a result of a stimulus. The method of the invention comprises capturing the emitted electromagnetic signals from the OHC by electrodes placed in close vicinity of an ear of a treated person. The captured signals are transmitted, in the form of a wave file, via electrical connections to a signal processor. The signal processor applies spatial averaging and/or voting algorithm(s) and produces measurement results.

A cochlear implant hearing aid system is disclosed. The cochlear implant hearing aid system comprises an external part. The external part includes a sound pickup unit configured to pick up sound from the environment and a sound processing unit configured to process said sound. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises an implant part. The implant part includes an implant processing unit and a plurality of cochlea stimulation electrodes for stimulation of a cochlea of a user. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises a near-infrared transmitter configured to transmit a near-infrared wave. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises a near-infrared receiver configured to receive said near-infrared wave.
Distraction remediation at a hearing device
Presented herein are integrated techniques to address the perception of distracting sounds by a recipient's residual hearing during testing of a hearing prosthesis. More specifically, in accordance with embodiments presented herein, a first hearing prosthesis located at a first ear of a recipient is configured to selectively operate in a testing-assistance mode in order to support or supplement the testing of testing of the first hearing prosthesis or a second hearing prosthesis located at a second car of the recipient.
Simultaneous Estimation of Cochlear and Efferent Activity
The present disclosure describes systems and methods to evaluate auditory efferent function by exposing a patient to short-duration acoustic click stimuli to generate a click-evoked otoacoustic emission (CEOAE) occurring in each ear of the patient, and in response to exposing the patient to click stimuli, concurrently sampling outer hair cell activity (OHC) and medial olivocochlear reflex (MOCR; efferents) in each ear of the patient, monitoring the middle ear muscle reflex (MEMR) in each ear of the patient, and measuring a change in cochlear activity in the patient based on the CEOAE, MOOR, and MEMR of each ear of the patient.
HEARING MONITORING METHOD AND APPARATUS
This application provides a hearing monitoring method and apparatus. The method includes: obtaining ear overuse information of a user, where the ear overuse information includes accumulated duration and/or accumulated times of overuse of ears of the user; and generating prompt information or a control instruction based on the ear overuse information. In this solution, because accumulated information is obtained, impact of a misoperation of the user can be excluded, and continued overuse of ears is also fully detected. Therefore, an unnecessary or missed reminder is avoided, thereby achieving more accurate hearing monitoring effect.
