On-demand testing for selected conditions

A device is used to monitor, in real-time, one or more environment conditions of an environment in which a user is located. Based on the monitoring, an alert condition relating to the environment is detected. Based on detecting the alert condition, on-demand testing of a sensory component of the user is initiated. The on-demand testing tests for a selected condition relating to the health of the user.

The at least one processor is configured to determine, based on the motion data, whether a user of the hearing instrument perceived a sound. The at least one processor is further configured to output data indicating whether the user perceived the sound.

AUTOMATIC TEST DEVICE AND METHOD FOR AUDITORY BRAINSTEM RESPONSE
20220183631 · 2022-06-16 ·

An automatic test device and method for auditory brainstem response (ABR) collects an ABR dataset at a plurality of sound loudness levels, increases the times of level averaging by iteration based on an adaptive average method, and improves a signal-to-noise ratio until ABR signal detection conditions are met. Signal detection includes determining that the time lag between average curves obtained from the ABR dataset is within a specified range. Iteration is terminated when the ABR signal is detected or a maximum number of iterations is reached. A minimum loudness level required to detect the ABR signal is used as a hearing threshold. An accurate loudness level corresponding to the hearing threshold is obtained by function fitting on the number of iterations used at each loudness level and interpolation. The threshold detection can effectively reduce the number of times that an ABR recording needs to be acquired.

SPECTRO-TEMPORAL MODULATION TEST UNIT

The present application relates to an electrophysiologically based Spectro-Temporal Modulation (STM) test unit. The STM test unit comprises an STM stimulus generating unit, an output unit, wherein the STM stimulus generating unit is configured to provide STM test stimuli comprising at least one STM probe stimulus to a user via the output unit according to a predetermined STM test protocol. The STM test unit further comprises one or more electrodes for measuring electrophysiological responses of the user, and an analysis unit configured to analyse the recorded electrophysiological responses of the user measured in response to the provided stimuli. The present application further relates to a method of electrophysiologically based STM testing of a user.

An apparatus and method for hearing analysis including a frequency setting part for setting a predetermined frequency at which there is a possibility of tinnitus of the subject; a signal generation part generates a pure tone signal of the set frequency and increase or decrease the level of the generated pure tone signal, and generates a complex tone signal including the frequency of the pure tone signal and increase or decrease a level of the generated complex tone signal; and a hearing analysis part to analyze hearing by using a pure tone recognition information and a complex tone recognition information of the subject obtained in reaction to the pure tone signal and the complex tone signal generated by the signal generation part. As a result, the apparatus and method can accurately determine the tinnitus region and also provide information from which point of the sound path the tinnitus originates.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CALIBRATING SOUND DELIVERY TO A HEARING SYSTEM RECIPIENT
20220160247 · 2022-05-26 · ·

An illustrative sound calibration system is configured to direct a loudspeaker to present a sound to a recipient by way of a length of tubing extending from the loudspeaker to an ear tip disposed at an ear canal of the recipient. The directing is configured to cause the sound to have a target sound pressure level at the ear canal. The system is further configured to obtain, from a probe microphone disposed within the ear tip, a detected sound pressure level of the sound as the sound is presented at the ear canal. The system is further configured to identify a discrepancy between the detected and target sound pressure levels of the sound as the sound is presented at the ear canal, and, based on the identified discrepancy, to direct a remedial action to be performed to compensate for the discrepancy. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.

Retractor systems with sensors

A retractor system includes a retractor with an oximeter sensor at its tip and a force sensor coupled to the retractor. The retractor system also includes a system unit which can send signals to and receive signals from the oximeter sensor via optical fibers. The oximeter sensor measures oxygen saturation of a tissue being retracted by the retractor, and the force sensor measures an amount of force that is applied to the retracted tissue by the tip of the retractor. Another retractor system has a closed loop control arrangement with a positioning mechanism which moves the retractor based on measurements of the sensors.
