PORTABLE DEVICE, METHOD AND MEDICAL SYSTEM FOR PROCESSING CONTINUOUS MONITORING DATA INDICATIVE OF AN ANALYTE IN A BODILY FLUID
Disclosed is a portable device for processing continuous monitoring data. The portable device includes a data interface that receives a stream of continuous monitoring data from a body-worn sensor. The data is indicative of an analyte in a bodily fluid. The portable device also includes a storage device that can store the continuous monitoring data. The control processes the continuous monitoring data and is switchable between first and second modes of operation during a sensor session of the body-worn sensor. In the first mode of operation, the control is configured to provide video data indicative of the continuous monitoring data for outputting by a display. In the second mode of operation the control is configured to store the continuous monitoring data in the storage device and to block the continuous monitoring data from being displayed on the display. A related method, system and computer program product are also disclosed.
System and method for filling containers with fluids
An example embodiment of an apparatus includes a fitting configured to couple to a pressurized supply of fluid. At least three branch assemblies extend from the fitting. Each branch assembly includes a tube coupled to the fitting at a first end, a balloon comprising a neck portion having a second end of the tube inserted therethrough, and a fastener removably coupling the balloon to the tube. The fastener is configured to permit fluid from the pressurized supply of fluid to pass through the tube and into the balloon and to automatically restrict the fluid from exiting the balloon through the neck portion upon decoupling the balloon and fastener from the tube.
Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
Fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems. The fill stations may be opened and closed to accept a reservoir and to allow fluid to be introduced into the reservoir for use with personal pump systems. The fill stations may hold the reservoir at a tilt relative to an underlying surface and may discourage overfilling of the reservoir. The filling stations may also include viewing windows having fluid lines marked thereon for indicating volume of fluid within the reservoir.
Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
An apparatus for inserting an infusion device for supplying a fluid to a body of a user, and a sensor for monitoring a body characteristic of the user, the apparatus including a bridge including a rigid body and comprising an infusion device end and a sensor end, the bridge further including an infusion device introduction needle attached to the infusion device end, a sensor introduction needle, the sensor introduction needle attached to the sensor end, an infusion device, operatively coupled to the infusion device introduction needle, for infusing a fluid to an infusion site, and a sensor introduction needle operatively coupled to an electrochemical sensor having a sensor electrode for determining at least one body characteristic of the patient at a sensor placement site, an infusion device release for releasing the infusion device from the infusion device introduction needle, and a sensor release for releasing the sensor from the sensor introduction needle.
Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
A repeater system may control a pump by using a repeater and a user interface. An adhesive patch system may be used for affixing a pump or other object to a human body. Such an adhesive patch system may include two sets of adhesive members, each member including an adhesive material on at least one side so as to attach to the body. The members of the first set are spaced to allow the members of the second set to attach to the body in spaces provided between the members of the first set, and the members of the second set are spaced to allow members of the first set to detach from the body without detaching the members of the second set. Also, fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems.
Continuous analyte monitor data recording device operable in a blinded mode
A system is provided for monitoring analyte in a host, including a continuous analyte sensor that produces a data stream indicative of a host's analyte concentration and a device that receives and records data from the data stream from the continuous analyte sensor. In one embodiment, the device includes a single point analyte monitor, from which it obtains an analyte value, and is configured to display only single point analyte measurement values, and not any analyte measurement values associated with data received from the continuous analyte sensor. Instead, data received from the continuous analyte sensor is used to provide alarms to the user when the analyte concentration and/or the rate of change of analyte concentration, as measured by the continuous analyte sensor, is above or below a predetermined range. Data received from the continuous analyte sensor may also be used to prompt the diabetic or caregiver to take certain actions, such as to perform another single point blood glucose measurement. In another embodiment, the device provides for toggling between two modes, with one mode that allows for display of glucose concentration values associated with the continuous glucose sensor and a second mode that prevents the display of glucose concentration values associated with the continuous glucose sensor.
Peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
A system for use in filling one or more reservoirs. The system includes a fill station including a fill station base, a fill station cover hingably attached to the fill station base, and a filling aperture attached to the fill station cover, wherein the fill station may be opened to accommodate the one or more reservoirs. The system also includes a vial having an interior volume for containing a fluidic medium, the vial configured to removably attach to the filling aperture, and a plunger located within the vial, the plunger advancable within the vial to reduce the interior volume.
Method and apparatus for penetrating tissue
A tissue penetrating system has a housing member. A plurality of penetrating members are positioned in the housing member. A tissue stabilizing member is coupled to the housing. A penetrating member sensor is coupled to the plurality of penetrating members. The penetrating member sensor is configured to provide information relative to a depth of penetration of a penetrating member through a skin surface.
Patch-sized fluid delivery systems and methods
A patch-sized fluid delivery device may include a reusable portion and a disposable portion. The disposable portion may include components that come into contact with the fluid, while the reusable portion may include only components that do not come into contact with the fluid. Redundant systems, such as redundant controllers, power sources, motor actuators, and alarms, may be provided. Alternatively or additionally, certain components can be multi-functional, such a microphones and loudspeakers that may be used for both acoustic volume sensing and for other functions and a coil that may be used as both an inductive coupler for a battery recharger and an antenna for a wireless transceiver. Various types of network interfaces may be provided in order to allow for remote control and monitoring of the device.
