The catheter system may also include a needle assembly, which may include a needle hub and an introducer needle. The needle hub may include: a distal end coupled to the proximal end of the catheter adapter; a proximal end; a wall disposed between the distal end of the needle hub and the proximal end of the needle hub; and a flashback chamber proximate the wall. The introducer needle may be press-fit within a through-hole of the wall. The catheter system may also include a plug coupled to the proximal end of the needle hub. A blood collection device may be coupled to a proximal end of the plug to collect blood from a patient.

SAMPLING MECHANISM AND SAMPLING METHOD

Provided is a sampling mechanism capable of performing sampling through proper perforation with respect to a plug body. A perforating body has a first piercer inserted into a cap and penetrating the cap with a tip closed and a second piercer formed in a tubular shape, disposed outside the first piercer, approaching the cap together with the first piercer by causing the first piercer to protrude downward, reaching the cap after the first piercer reaches the cap, and penetrating the cap by being inserted into the cap. A probe is passed through the second piercer remaining after retraction of the first piercer.

SLEEVE

A modular system which may aid in collection of bodily fluids, and more particularly collection of sperm. The system may include a plurality of components including a sleeve, a core and at least one cap. The system may be easily assembled and disassembled for interchangeability of each of its components as well as for cleaning and disinfection. The system may include a substantially rigid outer shell with a more malleable inner core. The core may be a single piece or multiple pieces and may be interchangeable depending on a user's preference and may reside within the outer shell but may be easily removable from the outer shell. A first end cap may include a face of substantially the same material as the inner core and may be interchangeable based on user preference as well.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR COLLECTING AND STORING FLUID SMAPLES FOR ANALYSIS

A sampling device for collecting, storing and processing fluid samples for analysis is disclosed. The sampling device comprises a porous polymer monolith sampling substrate housed within a substantially impermeable housing. The housing surrounds the sampling substrate and further comprises a sampling aperture via which the sampling substrate is accessible externally from the sampling device.

Blood sample management using open cell foam

A specimen transfer device adapted to receive a blood sample is disclosed. The specimen transfer device includes a housing and an actuation member. A deformable material is disposed within the housing and is deformable from an initial position in which the material is adapted to hold the sample to a deformed position in which at least a portion of the sample is released from the material. A viscoelastic member is disposed within the housing between the material and the housing and between the material and the actuation member. The viscoelastic member is engaged with the actuation member and the material such that movement of the actuation member from a first position to a second position deforms the material from the initial position to the deformed position.

Biological fluid collection device

A biological fluid collection device that allows a blood sample to be collected anaerobically is disclosed.

RETRACTABLE SLEEVE FOR PEN NEEDLE ASSEMBLY

A needle hub assembly for a pen needle includes a needle hub, a cannula or needle coupled to the needle hub, a retractable and compressible sleeve covering at least one end of the cannula, and an outer cover. The outer cover encloses the needle hub and the retractable sleeve. The retractable sleeve is coupled to the hub to cover the end of the cannula where the sleeve can pass through or can be pierced by the cannula and the sleeve retracts axially on the cannula. The sleeve is resilient and returns to an original configuration when an insertion force is released. The needle hub can have a first sleeve to cover a patient end of the cannula, and second sleeve to cover a non-patient end of the cannula where the sleeves retract onto the cannula or hub and expand to the original configuration to cover the ends of the cannula.

Biological Fluid Transfer Device and Biological Fluid Sampling System

A biological fluid sampling transfer device adapted to receive a multi-component blood sample is disclosed. After collecting the blood sample, the biological fluid sampling transfer device is able to separate a plasma portion from a cellular portion. After separation, the biological fluid sampling transfer device is able to transfer the plasma portion of the blood sample to a point-of-care testing device. The biological fluid sampling transfer device also provides a closed sampling and transfer system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer. The biological fluid sampling transfer device is engageable with a blood testing device for closed transfer of a portion of the plasma portion from the biological fluid sampling transfer device to the blood testing device. The blood testing device is adapted to receive the plasma portion to analyze the blood sample and obtain test results.

Biological liquid collection vessels, systems, and methods

A biological liquid collection vessel is adapted to contain a biological liquid to be centrifuged. The collection vessel has a vessel body having an open upper end and a closed lower end, a continuous wall, a target area at the upper end, and a solids area at the lower end that is connected to the target area. The target area is extended in length. In some embodiments, a volume capacity of both of the target area and the solids area are configured so that a red blood cell portion of the centrifuged biological liquid (e.g., blood) is substantially contained in the solids area, and the serum or plasma portion of the centrifuged biological liquid is substantially contained in the target area. Methods of and systems using the liquid collection vessels are provided, as are other aspects.

Systems, devices, and methods for bodily fluid sample collection

Bodily fluid sample collection systems, devices, and method are provided. The device may comprise a first portion comprising at least a sample collection channel configured to draw the fluid sample into the sample collection channel via a first type of motive force. The sample collection device may include a second portion comprising a sample container for receiving the bodily fluid sample collected in the sample collection channel, the sample container operably engagable to be in fluid communication with the collection channel, whereupon when fluid communication is established, the container provides a second motive force different from the first motive force to move a majority of the bodily fluid sample from the channel into the container.
