A device for collecting a physiological sample from a subject includes a lancet and a cartridge configured to couple to the lancet. The needle is configured to puncture the subject's skin. The lancet is configured to automatically deploy the needle when coupled to the lancet which allows the needle to puncture the subject's skin and draw a physiological sample. The device further includes a vial disposed within the cartridge. The vial is configured to receive the drawn physiological sample.

FLUID DIVERSION MECHANISM FOR BODILY-FLUID SAMPLING

An apparatus includes a housing, a flow control mechanism, and an actuator. At least a portion of the flow control mechanism is movably disposed within the housing. The apparatus further includes an inlet port and an outlet port, and defines a fluid reservoir. The outlet port is fluidically coupled to a second fluid reservoir and is fluidically isolated from the first fluid reservoir. The actuator is configured to move the flow control mechanism between a first configuration, in which the inlet port is placed in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir such that the fluid reservoir receives a first flow of bodily-fluid, and a second configuration, in which the inlet port is placed in fluid communication with the outlet port.

A biological fluid collection device that receives a sample and provides flow-through blood stabilization technology and a precise sample dispensing function for point-of-care and near patient testing applications is disclosed. A biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure is able to effectuate distributed mixing of a sample stabilizer within a blood sample and dispense the stabilized sample in a controlled manner. In this manner, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure enables blood micro-sample management, e.g., passive mixing with a sample stabilizer and controlled dispensing, for point-of-care and near patient testing applications.

Syringe systems and methods for multi-stage fluid delivery

A syringe-based device includes a housing and an actuator mechanism including a first member and a second member. The first member includes a syringe body and a plunger, the plunger being movably disposed within the syringe body. The second member includes a second member plunger seal and a valve operably and selectively coupled to the second member plunger seal such that the valve is positioned proximal of the second member plunger seal. The device also includes a first fluid reservoir and a second fluid reservoir. The device transitions from a first configuration to a second configuration in which the first type of fluid is expelled from the first fluid reservoir, to a third configuration in which the second type of fluid is expelled from the second fluid reservoir through the valve.

A device for making available sample carriers includes a tube with a receiving chamber for a plurality of sample carriers. The receiving chamber is delimited, at its front end, by a holding means for individualized release of the sample carriers and, at its rear end, by a plunger for exerting a force on the sample carriers. The holding means is elastic. To prevent a plurality of sample carriers being released at the same time from the tube, a plurality of fins are mounted on the plunger. The fins are mutually offset in the circumferential direction of the plunger. The offset arrangement of the fins has the effect that, under the action of the force, the plunger is pressed into the interior of the tube by in each case only a predefined ejection stroke. The ejection stroke is adapted to the length or the diameter of one of the sample carriers.
