An electronic device and a control method of an electronic device are provided. The control method includes obtaining an image on the diagnostic kit through a camera included in the electronic device, the obtaining of the image based on receiving a user command for photographing a diagnostic kit including at least one test line discolored according to a reaction between a sample collected from a body of a user and a reagent, and a plurality of tone distinction markers with tones different from one another, obtaining a first color value on the at least one test line included in the obtained image and a second color value on each of the plurality of tone distinction markers, obtaining a first deviation information on a photographing environment of the obtained image, correcting a first data to obtain a biometric information measurement value, and obtaining a diagnostic result corresponding to the measurement value.

Flushable catheter device

A flushable catheter device has an outer tube with a first distal end opening to be introduced into a blood vessel and defining a first lumen. An inner tube is disposed in the first lumen with a second distal end opening proximally spaced from the first distal end opening and defining a second lumen. A space axially disposed between the end openings defines an outflow/inflow inhibiting portion which inhibits a flow of fluid out from the first lumen into the into the vessel as a result of a perfusion of a flushing fluid being supplied through the first lumen and into the second lumen.

In a method embodiment, an example method for simultaneously filling balloons with water, using an apparatus sufficiently compact to be operated while being held by hand, is disclosed. The method includes attaching the apparatus to a water supply. The method further includes simultaneously providing water from the attached water supply to a plurality of balloons removably attached to the apparatus, such that each balloon contains water. The method further includes simultaneously detaching from the apparatus the plurality of balloons, with each balloon having water from the water supply provided therein and each balloon automatically sealing upon detachment.

Blood sample management using open cell foam

A specimen transfer device adapted to receive a blood sample is disclosed. The specimen transfer device includes a housing and an actuation member. A deformable material is disposed within the housing and is deformable from an initial position in which the material is adapted to hold the sample to a deformed position in which at least a portion of the sample is released from the material. A viscoelastic member is disposed within the housing between the material and the housing and between the material and the actuation member. The viscoelastic member is engaged with the actuation member and the material such that movement of the actuation member from a first position to a second position deforms the material from the initial position to the deformed position.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE SAMPLING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF BLOOD PRODUCTS, AND SAMPLING SYSTEMS THEREFOR

There is provided a method of sampling an aliquot of blood products from a main container containing the blood products to be sampled. The method includes providing a sample container that is rectangular-shaped and has a length-over−width (L/W) ratio of at least that of the main container, and fluidly connecting the a sample container to the main container, transferring the aliquot of the blood products from the main container to the sample container, and forming an air bubble in the sample container by introducing a volume of air into the sample container with the aliquot of the blood products. The volume of air forming the air bubble corresponds to at least about 5% of a volume of the aliquot of the blood products. A sampling bag and a sampling system are disclosed.

A closure for protectively sealing a biological fluid collection device is disclosed. The closure includes a cap and an adapter or connector. The closure of the present disclosure allows for connection to multiple different blood collection devices. In a first configuration, with the cap connected to the adapter, the closure may be connected to a first blood collection device. In a second configuration, with the cap disconnected from the adapter, the closure may be connected to a second blood collection device. An advantage of the closure of the present disclosure is that it enables a single closure device to accommodate a variety of connection options, hi one embodiment, the closure includes a barrier in communication with a portion of the cap, and the barrier protectively shields a portion of the stopper and/or protectively shields a portion of the cap.

LASER SYSTEM FOR BLOOD OR TISSUE ASSESSMENT

A laser system for blood assessment is provided. Another aspect of a laser system includes a container within which is blood, a laser operable to emit a laser beam at the container to vibrate the blood, a detector operable to detect a vibrational characteristic of the blood, a controller connected to the detector operable to automatically determine a characteristic of the blood based at least in part on the vibrational characteristic detected by the detector, and a display operable to indicate a determination result from the controller. Another aspect of the present blood or tissue assessment laser system includes a laser, a power supply, a detector, a controller and an electronic display, all contained within or coupled to a handheld and portable housing.
