Lancet for Use with a Dermal Patch System
A dermal patch system includes a lancet with three needles and a cartridge that is configured to attach to the skin of a subject. The lancet is configured automatically move the three needles from an undeployed position to a deployed position when the lancet engages with the cartridge. The three needles are configured to puncture the skin of the subject to draw a physiological sample when in the deployed position.
Methods for delivery of bodily fluids onto a fibrous substrate
The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to devices, systems and methods for the collection of bodily fluids. The collector can make use of microfluidic networks connected to collection sites on the skin of a subject to gather and shuttle blood into a removable cartridge. The collected fluid is supplied to substrate for drying, storage and transport.
Dermal patch for collecting a physiological sample
A dermal patch for collecting a physiological sample includes a housing with a collection chamber, a sample channel and a pin within a receptacle of the housing. The sample channel is configured to direct a physiological sample drawn from a subject to the collection chamber. The pin is removably positioned within the receptacle and is configured to move from an undeployed position to a deployed position. The pin is configured to seal the receptacle when in the undeployed position and is further configured to facilitate generation of negative pressure in the sample channel when the pin is moved from the undeployed to the deployed position.
Blood sample management using open cell foam
A specimen mixing and transfer device adapted to receive a sample is disclosed. The specimen mixing and transfer device includes a housing, a material including pores that is disposed within the housing, and a dry anticoagulant powder within the pores of the material. In one embodiment, the material is a sponge material. In other embodiments, the material is an open cell foam. In one embodiment, the material is treated with an anticoagulant to form a dry anticoagulant powder finely distributed throughout the pores of the material. A blood sample may be received within the specimen mixing and transfer device. The blood sample is exposed to and mixes with the anticoagulant powder while passing through the material.
Dermal Patch for Collecting a Physiological Sample
A dermal patch device for acquisition and analysis of a physiological sample from a subject can include, a lancet port configured to receive a lancet to pierce the skin of the subject and thereby obtain the physiological sample, a sensor disposed in a sensor chamber, and a plurality of fluid pathways. The dermal patch device can further include a first fluid-filled ampoule, a second fluid-filled ampoule, and a third fluid-filled ampoule. The first fluid-filled ampoule can be actuated to release calibration fluid into the sensor chamber via a first group of the fluid pathways. The second fluid-filled ampoule can be actuated to evacuate the calibration fluid from the sensor chamber via a second group of the fluid pathways among the plurality of fluid pathways. The third fluid-filled ampoule can be actuated to draw the physiological sample into the sensor chamber via a third group of the fluid pathways.
