Blood Collection Device for Small Volume Sample Acquisition Through Peripheral Intravenous Catheters
Provided herein is a blood collection device having a tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a sidewall therebetween defining an interior, the interior configured to receive a blood sample through one or more openings at the distal end of the tube when the distal end of the tube is positioned in a blood vessel and an obturator slidably disposed relative to the tube and received within the interior of the tube.
Integrated Catheter System and Methods for Collection of a Blood Culture Sample
An integrated catheter is disclosed having a body defining a channel to direct a biological fluid therethrough, a connection port defined in the body, in which an extension tube is fluidly coupled to the connection port, a vented access port in fluid communication with the extension tube, the vented access port spaced apart from the connection port, an integrated catheter operatively connected to the body to direct a biological fluid into the body, and a distal access port defined in the body, the distal access port configured to be in fluid communication with a removable sample collection container. An initial biological fluid volume directed through the body is directed into the extension tube via the connection port and into the vented access port.
Blood Access Device with Integrated Blood Diagnostics
A blood sample collection system includes a blood access device having a fluid flow path and a diagnostic device configured to receive a sample of blood, where the diagnostic device is in fluid communication with the fluid flow path, and where the diagnostic device is configured to be detached from the blood access device.
Blood Collection Device
A blood collection device for medical use having a body with longitudinal flow channel and a needle retraction chamber, a slide assembly slidably engaging the body in a plane transverse to the flow channel through the body, a forwardly projecting nose, a device stabilization member with flexible wings projecting oppositely from a cylindrical hub attached to the nose, a rearwardly biased venipuncture needle projecting forwardly from the nose, and a tubular needle cap having proximal and distal ends, wherein the proximal end of the tubular needle cap is insertable between and is releasably held by the nose and the cylindrical hub. Cooperatively configured sets of ramps and stop surfaces limit lateral sliding movement of the body relative to the slide assembly.
BLOOD SEQUESTRATION DEVICE AND METHOD
A blood sequestration device configured to isolate an initial, potentially contaminated portion of blood from the flow of blood of a patient, prior to directing the flow of blood to an outlet port where the blood can be accessed. The blood sequestration device including a body member having an interior wall defining a fluid conduit having a distal portion, a first proximal portion, and a second proximal portion, wherein the first proximal portion defines a sequestration chamber configured to isolate an initial portion of blood of a flow of blood, a vent path configured to enable the escape of gas initially trapped within the sequestration chamber.
Biological Fluid Collection Device and Collection Module
A biological fluid collection device that receives a sample and provides flow-through blood stabilization technology and a precise sample dispensing function for point-of-care and near patient testing applications is disclosed. A biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure is able to effectuate distributed mixing of a sample stabilizer within a blood sample and dispense the stabilized sample in a controlled manner. In this manner, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure enables blood micro-sample management, e.g., passive mixing with a sample stabilizer and controlled dispensing, for point-of-care and near patient testing applications.
Needle Guard
A method of making a needle guard includes providing a mold having a portion defining a volume, the volume being a hollow cylinder with non-uniform walls with a pair of slots therein, the slots being open at one end and closed at the other end, the pair of slots having a major portion of constant width. The walls are thicker at the other end than at the one end. The method includes filling the volume with polymer and releasing a molded part from said mold and cooling a molded part resulting from the filling and releasing such that temperature that the widths of the pair of slots is non-uniform after cooling. The needle guard has upper and lower jaws defining a channel and coming together at a hinge. A winged needle can be inserted between the jaws, with the wings of the winged needle passing through slots between the jaws.
DISPOSABLE BLOOD METERING DEVICE
Measurement system which can be used at patients bedside to monitor the amount of blood drawn from the patient. The system uses disposable sensor and electronics to measure accurately and in real time the volume of the blood drawn from the patient using a paddlewheel sensor wherein the rotation of the paddle wheel is correlated with the volume of the blood that is drawn from the patient and collected.
Fluid control devices and methods of using the same
A fluid control device includes an inlet configured to be placed in fluid communication with a bodily fluid source and an outlet configured to be placed in fluid communication with a fluid collection device. The fluid control device has sequestration portion that can be vented or evacuated. The fluid control device has a first state in which an initial volume of bodily fluid can flow from the inlet to the sequestration portion and a second state in which (1) the initial volume is sequestered in the sequestration portion, and (2) a subsequent volume of bodily fluid, being substantially free of contaminants, can flow through at least a portion of the fluid control device and into the fluid collection device. The fluid control device can transition automatically or in response to an actuation of a portion of the fluid control device after the sequestration portion receives the initial volume.
BLOOD COLLECTION DEVICE THAT SEQUESTERS AN INITIAL COLLECTED PORTION
Various embodiments of the present disclosure describe a diversion device that traps an initial flow of blood in a diversion chamber of the diversion device. The diversion device comprises a housing having an inlet conduit and an outlet conduit; a diversion chamber that comprises a flow path defined by a channel or series of channels that terminate in a diversion chamber valve; a collected sample valve; and bypass flow chamber positioned within the housing, wherein the collected sample valve is configured to permit subsequent flow of fluid to enter the bypass flow chamber, and the bypass flow chamber is configured to permit the subsequent flow of fluid to exit the diversion device. The diversion chamber valve allows air, but not blood, to flow through it.
