Biological fluid collection device

A biological fluid collection device that includes a housing and a cartridge that is removably receivable within a portion of the housing is disclosed. The biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure allows for collection of capillary blood from a finger stick and provides a closed system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample. In one embodiment, a cartridge of the present disclosure also provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer. In another embodiment, a cartridge of the present disclosure provides automatic plasma separation of the blood sample. Advantageously, once the cartridge is filled with a sample aid removed from the housing, the cartridge can be used for a variety of important purposes.

ANALYTE SENSOR DEVICES, CONNECTIONS, AND METHODS

Devices associated with on-body analyte sensor units are disclosed. These devices include any of packaging and/or loading systems, applicators and elements of the on-body sensor units themselves. Also, various approaches to connecting electrochemical analyte sensors to and/or within associated on-body analyte sensor units are disclosed. The connector approaches variously involve the use of unique sensor and ancillary element arrangements to facilitate assembly of separate electronics assemblies and sensor elements that are kept apart until the end user brings them together.

Apparatus for identifying and manipulating a blood vessel, and corresponding method

The invention relates to a detection apparatus and a method for detecting and manipulating a blood vessel under the skin of part of the body of a patient, which comprises a treatment chamber for accommodating the body part, a data processing control device, a vascular structure measuring device for detecting the position and/or dimensions of vascular structure data of the blood vessel in the treatment chamber by measurement, a vascular manipulation device for changing the position and/or dimension of the blood vessel, wherein the control device is designed to control the vascular manipulation device as a function of the vascular structure data.

Devices and methods for fluid transfer through a placed peripheral intravenous catheter

An apparatus includes a catheter, an introducer, and an actuator. A distal end portion of the introducer is configured to couple to an indwelling peripheral intravenous line. The actuator is movably coupled to the introducer and is configured to move the catheter between a first position, in which the catheter is disposed within the introducer, and a second position, in which a distal end portion of the catheter is distal to the introducer. A first portion of the actuator is disposed outside of the introducer and in contact with an outer surface of the introducer such that (1) a longitudinal axis defined by a second portion of the actuator is nonparallel to a longitudinal axis defined by the introducer and (2) the second portion of the actuator exerts a force on a proximal end portion of the catheter operable to increase an internal stress with in a portion of the catheter.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO COLLECT A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE

Sample processing methods and systems to collect a biological sample. A device may be configured collect a predetermined volume of a sample in sample chamber, and seal the chamber upon activation. The device may be further configured to mix the mix the sample with a predetermined volume of a reagent and/or mix the sample and the reagent in a pre-determined ration.

Additive Mixing for Blood Sample Collection

A sample collection container configured to be removably mounted to a blood collection device includes: a housing having a flow channel extending through the housing having an inlet and an outlet and a container body removably connected to the housing. The container body includes an open top, a closed bottom, and an interior wall extending between the top and the bottom defining a collection cavity. When the housing is connected to the container body, the outlet of the flow channel is in fluid communication with the collection cavity. The sample collection container also includes at least one additive dispersing object positioned to be contacted by blood flowing from the blood collection device through the flow channel and/or into the collection cavity. The at least one additive dispersing object includes an additive composition to be mixed with the blood passing along the flow channel and into the collection cavity.
