Developer with toner and carrier, and image forming apparatus using the same
A developer according to an embodiment includes a toner having a color erasable by heating and a carrier. The carrier includes a core portion and a coating portion covering at least 50% of the core portion. The coating portion includes an additive agent which suppresses an increase in electrification due to friction between the toner and the carrier. The additive agent has a white color.
Toner comprising colorant wax dispersion
A toner including a resin; and a colorant wax comprising a plurality of colorant wax particles comprising a colorant core surrounded by a wax shell, wherein the colorant wax particles exhibit a particle size distribution of from about 150 nanometers to less than about 300 nanometers; and wherein the colorant wax is prepared by (a) melting and mixing a dry colorant with at least one wax to form a colorant concentrate, wherein the colorant concentrate contains at least 25 percent by weight of colorant; (b) milling the colorant concentrate of step (a) to form a milled colorant concentrate; (c) combining the milled colorant concentrate of (b) with water and dispersing to form the plurality of colorant wax particles; wherein the melting and mixing of step (a) and the milling of step (b) is done in an immersion media mill; and wherein the combining of step (c) is done using a piston homogenizer.
TONER, MAGNETIC CARRIERS AND TWO-COMPONENT DEVELOPER
The two-component developer constituted of a toner and carriers, wherein the toner contains a crystalline polyester resin, constituted of a linear saturated aliphatic polyester unit, dispersed in an amorphous polyester resin obtained by polymerizing a bivalent alcohol component monomer and a dicarboxylic acid as an acid component monomer; wherein the carriers have a magnetic property and have core particles covered with a covering layer containing at least a binder resin and aminopropyltriethoxysilane; and
wherein an image of the magnetic carriers photographed by a scanning electron microscope shows the following features:
a percentage of a total area of high-brightness parts derived from a metal oxide on the one magnetic carrier particle to a total projected area is 3.0% by area at the maximum and 80% by piece in the magnetic carriers at the minimum and
an average percentage of the total area of the high-brightness parts derived from the metal oxide on the magnetic carrier particle to the total projected area of the magnetic carriers is 3.0% by area at the maximum.
Toner and method for manufacturing toner
To provide a toner from which an image having a stable image density can be obtained with reduced occurrence of pollution of members, even when a toner container is filled with a larger amount of toner than a conventional amount for long-term use. A toner including a toner particle and an external additive containing an organic-inorganic composite fine particle and an inorganic fine particle A; wherein the organic-inorganic composite fine particle includes a resin particle and an inorganic fine particle B, the resin particle has a surface with a convex derived from the inorganic fine particle B; has a specific number average particle diameter (D1) and a specific shape factor SF-2; and has a specific fixed state to the toner particle; the organic-inorganic composite fine particle has a specific unit diffusion index on the toner particle surface; the inorganic fine particle A has a specific BET specific surface area.
SURFACE MODIFIED MAGNETIC CARRIERS USING HYDROPHOBIZED TITANIA
A developer mix used in a dual component development (DCD) system is a mixture of toner particles and magnetic carrier particles, wherein the magnetic carrier particle is surface treated with a hydrophobized titania particle. The surface treatment with a hydrophobized titania particle may be selected from either a spherical, disk, or spindle shaped. Tribocharge of the toner and the toner charge stability across cartridge life or environments may be suitably modified by selecting a preferred size and shape of the hydrophobized titania.
SURFACE MODIFIED MAGNETIC CARRIERS USING HYDROPHOBIZED TITANIA
A method for providing a developer mix having tribocharge uniformity across varying temperature and humidity conditions is provided. Tribocharge uniformity is achieved in the developer mix by performing the step of treating the surface of the polymer coated magnetic carrier particles with hydrophobized titania surface additives before the polymer coated magnetic carrier particles are mixed with the toner particles. The surface treatment with the hydrophobized titania surface additives can be either a spherical, disk, or spindle shaped.
METHOD TO ACHIEVE TRIBOCHARGE UNIFORMITY OF A DEVELOPER MIX ACROSS DIFFERENT TEMERATURE AND HUMIDITY CONDITIONS BY MODIFYING THE SURFACE OF THE MAGNETIC CARRIER PARTICLE
A method for providing a developer mix having tribocharge uniformity across varying temperature and humidity conditions is provided. A developer mix used in a dual component development (DCD) system typically is a mixture of toner particles and magnetic carrier particles. Tribocharge uniformity is achieved in the developer mix by performing the step of treating the surface of the magnetic carrier particles with surface additives before the magnetic carrier particles are mixed with the toner particles. Surface additives include but are not limited to silica, titania and alumina.
FORMULATION FOR A DEVELOPER MIX HAVING TRIBOCHARGE UNIFORMITY ACROSS DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY CONDITIONS
A developer mix formulation having tribocharge uniformity across varying temperature and humidity conditions is provided. A developer mix used in a dual component development (DCD) system is a mixture of toner particles and magnetic carrier particles. Tribocharge uniformity is achieved in the developer mix by using magnetic carrier particles having surface additives on its surface. Surface additives include but are not limited to silica, titania and alumina.
Toner
A toner prepared by a method comprising granulating while polymerizing a ring-opening polymerizable monomer with a catalyst under the presence of a surfactant and a colorant in a compressible fluid.
