The present disclosure also relates to a method of printing a conductive trace on a print substrate. The method comprises electrophotographically printing the electrophotographic ink composition described above onto a print substrate.

Here is described a method of printing on a plastic substrate, the method comprising: providing an electrostatic ink composition comprising a carrier liquid, and particles comprising a resin, and a slip agent dispersed in the carrier liquid; forming a latent electrostatic image on a surface; contacting the surface with the electrostatic ink composition, such that at least some of the particles and the slip agent are transferred to the surface to form a developed toner image on the surface; and transferring the toner image to the plastic substrate. Electrostatic ink compositions and plastic substrates are also disclosed.

A process for preparing a printed rigid plastic substrate is described, the process comprising: providing a rigid plastic substrate comprising a primer on a surface of the rigid plastic substrate, the primer comprising a primer resin; printing a liquid electrophotographic ink composition comprising a thermoplastic resin onto the primer on the surface of the rigid plastic substrate; depositing a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linker onto the printed electrophotographic ink composition disposed on the primer; and laminating the rigid plastic substrate with a flexible film such that the ink composition and the cross-linker are disposed between the rigid substrate and the flexible film and wherein the lamination of the rigid substrate with the flexible film causes cross-linking of the thermoplastic resin of the ink composition and of the primer resin.

The process may comprise providing a printed substrate comprising an electrostatic ink layer on a surface of a substrate, the electrostatic ink layer comprising a first thermoplastic resin and a pigment; and electrostatically printing an electrostatic overcoat composition onto the printed substrate, the electrostatic overcoat composition comprising a second thermoplastic resin and a wax. Also described herein is an electrostatic overcoat composition, as well as an ink set comprising an electrostatic ink composition and an electrostatic overcoat composition.

A binder resin of toner particles in a liquid developer contains a resin having a monomer unit derived from at least one polymerizable monomer selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylates with an alkyl group having 18 to 36 carbon atoms, and the binder resin has an SP value higher by 1.5 (J/cm.sup.3).sup.0.5 or more than the SP value of a carrier liquid.
