Blood collection tube holder with slide-activated needle retraction
A blood collection tube holder embodying two coaxially alignable needles, the first needle being a forwardly facing venipuncture needle and the second needle being a rearwardly facing fluid discharge needle. The first and second needles are satisfactorily supported by a frontal attachment and body, respectively, that are disposed in relative sliding engagement along an interface that is transverse to the first and second needle and that extends at least from the second needle to an opening into a needle retraction chamber that projects rearwardly from the body. The subject device is configured to receive and support a conventional blood collection tube of the type used to collect blood samples.
INTRAVENOUS CATHETER AND BLOOD COLLECTION DEVICE
A device that permits collection of blood from a patient by a needle and also places a catheter tube in the circulatory system of the patient.
LANCING DEVICES
A single use lancing device comprising: a housing (10) defining a cavity; a needle assembly (12) comprising a needle (50) and a needle holder (52) and located within the cavity; a release member (16); and a spring (14) arranged to bias the needle assembly in a forward direction relative to the release member; wherein the release member comprises retaining arms (38) and is movable relative to the housing between a primed position in which the retaining arms are arranged to cooperate with the housing to restrain the needle assembly in a primed position, and a deployed position in which the restraining arms are arranged to release the needle assembly to deploy the needle.
Needle guard
A method of making a needle guard includes providing a mold having a portion defining a volume, the volume being a hollow cylinder with non-uniform walls with a pair of slots therein, the slots being open at one end and closed at the other end, the pair of slots having a major portion of constant width. The walls are thicker at the other end than at the one end. The method includes filling the volume with polymer and releasing a molded part from said mold and cooling a molded part resulting from the filling and releasing such that temperature that the widths of the pair of slots is non-uniform after cooling. The needle guard has upper and lower jaws defining a channel and coming together at a hinge. A winged needle can be inserted between the jaws, with the wings of the winged needle passing through slots between the jaws.
IV Catheter with Retractable Needle and Laterally Offset Biasing Element and Needle Retraction Cavity
An intravenous catheter introducer for medical use having a body, a frontal attachment that is disposed in transverse sliding engagement with a front part of the body, a hub tube assembly that is releasably supported by the frontal attachment, and a retractable catheter insertion needle and needle holder that are biased rearwardly by a spring offset laterally from the needle axis, whereby lateral repositioning of the body relative to the frontal attachment following vascular insertion moves a needle retraction cavity disposed inside the body into substantial coaxial alignment and causes the needle holder to be retracted into the needle retraction cavity.

SAFETY LOCKED NEEDLE
The present teachings relate generally to a medical sampling device assembly (10), comprising: a sampling portion (20) disposed at a distal end (12) of the assembly; handle portion (30) disposed at a proximal end (14) of the assembly and including a bias member (32), a locking member (34) coupled to the bias member, and an indicator member (36); an intermediate portion (40) disposed between and interconnecting the sampling portion and the handle portion; and a sampling member (50) slidably disposed within the handle portion, the intermediate portion, and the sampling portion and protruding distally thereof, and in mechanical communication with the bias member; wherein the indicator member is deployed and the sampling member retracts permanently and completely into the sampling portion upon decoupling the locking member from the sampling member.
Blood sampling device
A blood sampling device (1) comprising a housing (10) and a lancet (50). The housing has a fixed abutment surface for holdingly engaging the lancet in a rearward primed position. The blood sampling device further comprises a trigger (22) moveable from a rest position to a fire position to release the lancet for forward movement, wherein the trigger deflects the lancet body in a direction generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the housing such that the lancet body may move forwardly past the fixed abutment surface.
Placental and cord blood collection device with safety
A novel blood collection device is described to secure a needle in place in a placenta or umbilical cord to prevent needle stick before, during, and after cord blood collection procedure.
Single-use compression lancing device
A single-use compression lancing device includes a bottom housing, a top housing, and a lancet. The lancet is generally configured for selective interengagement and guidance within the bottom and top housings. The top housing is configured for slidingly engaging the bottom housing such that manipulation of the top housing relative to the bottom housing causes a sharp tip portion of the lancet to protrude from an opening of the top housing. In one form, at least one arm extending from the lancet interengages a portion of the top housing such that the lancet is retracted within a portion of the bottom housing.
