An image forming apparatus and method for providing a user interface (UI) screen are provided. The image forming apparatus may include a processor to execute instructions stored in a memory to display applications running on different UI platforms supported by different operating systems, together on a home screen based on a main UI platform selected among the different UI platforms, on a UI device.

An image forming system includes: a sheet feeder; an image former that forms an image on a paper sheet; a conveyor that conveys a paper sheet to a sheet ejection destination; a switcher that switches sheet ejection destinations; a reader that optically reads a paper sheet, and outputs a read image; an abnormal sheet detector that detects an abnormal paper sheet by analyzing the read image; a storage; a display; and a hardware processor that performs: ejection destination switch control to control the switcher to eject an abnormal paper sheet and a succeeding paper sheet to a second ejection destination different from a regular ejection destination; storage control, for each of the abnormal paper sheet and the succeeding paper sheet, to associate sheet information, the read image, and a stacking order with one another, and store them into the storage; and display control to cause the display to display them.

An image forming apparatus includes a drum cartridge and a controller. The drum cartridge includes a photosensitive drum, a charger and a drum cartridge memory storing a life count value and discharge history information. The controller includes a voltage applying circuit, and an abnormal discharge detection circuit. In a case where the abnormal discharge detection circuit detects an abnormal discharge, the controller does not permit printing in a case where the life count value is equal to or more than a first reference value and a number of abnormal discharges which is included in the discharge history information read from the drum cartridge memory is equal to or more than a particular threshold value, or permits printing in a case where the life count value is equal to or more than the first reference value and the number of abnormal discharges is less than the particular threshold value.

An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeding unit storing a sheet, an image forming unit, a display unit, and one or more processors. The image forming unit forms an image on the sheet conveyed from the sheet feeding unit. The display unit displays a screen. The one or more processors perform control to cause the display unit to display a first sheet setting screen for setting sheet information about the sheet feeding unit on which a predetermined operation is performed based on the performance of the predetermined operation on the sheet feeding unit while a setting screen that prompts a user to make a copy-related setting is displayed. Where the predetermined operation is performed while a second sheet setting screen for setting sheet information about the sheet feeding unit is displayed, the one or more processors cause the display unit not to display the first sheet setting screen.

A machine-readable, non-transitory recording medium, an image forming apparatus, and an information processing apparatus. The machine-readable, non-transitory recording medium stores instructions that, when executed, cause the information processing apparatus to display a special color settings screen for setting an RGB value of drawing data to be printed in a special color included in print data to be transmitted to an image forming apparatus, generate the print data instructing printing of the RGB value set on the special color settings screen in the special color, and transmit the generated print data to the image forming apparatus.

An information processing apparatus which is capable of reliably switching display languages in response to depression of a language switching button. A display language on a display unit is switched to a language selected by a user from a list of languages displayed on the display unit. In response to selection of a language switching button by the user, the display language on the display unit is switched to one of a plurality of languages associated with the language switching button. Currently-displayed language information indicating a language currently displayed on the display unit is obtained when the language switching button is selected by the user. When the language switching button is selected by the user, the display language on the display unit is switched to one of the plurality of languages associated with the language switching button and different from a language currently displayed on the display unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a storage, circuitry, and an information provider. The storage is configured to temporarily store one or more sheets to be removed without being used in the image forming apparatus. The circuitry is configured to determine whether a manual operation is performed on the image forming apparatus and whether the one or more sheets stored in the storage exceed a given value in number or height. The information provider is configured to provide information urging removal of the one or more sheets from the storage in response to determination by the circuitry that the manual operation is performed and that the one or more sheets stored in the storage exceed the given value in number or height.

Examples dis closed herein relate to identifying an amount of remaining supply of a print material, selecting one of a plurality of threshold ranges associated with the amount of remaining print material, and updating a visual indicator indicative of the selected one of the plurality of threshold ranges.

A printing apparatus capable of conveying sheets to a sheet processing apparatus and to control the type of a sheet to be used as a cover sheet in a case where a book bound product is generated by switching back sheets each having an image printed, inverting the sheets and folding the inverted sheets, and to notify an error to a user based on the type of a sheet to be used as the cover sheet in a case where printing an image on the cover sheet is designated.

A printing apparatus includes a display that displays one of a first list including information of part of a plurality of sheet holding units, and a second list, including information of another sheet holding unit, of the plurality of sheet holding units, which is not displayed in the first list, and a user interface that receives a change instruction for changing the first list to the second list. The printing apparatus also includes a controller that controls the display based on the received change instruction received, such that, when an empty state occurs in a sheet holding unit of the part of the plurality of sheet holding units included in the information of the first list, the display initially displays the first list, and, when an empty state occurs in the other sheet holding unit included in the information of the second list, the display initially displays the second list.
