An image forming apparatus that includes a display unit and forms an image on a sheet sets a setting value of adjustment influenced by the characteristics of the image forming apparatus upon forming an image by using a sheet, and then displays a sheet list which displays a list of a plurality of types of sheets on a display unit and reflects the set setting value on at least one sheet selected from the sheet list.

An apparatus specifies authority of a user who is logged onto the apparatus. The apparatus enables displaying a first display item for purchasing a consumable based on at least the presence or absence of the specified authority of logged in user.

An image forming apparatus includes a drum cartridge and a controller. The drum cartridge includes a photosensitive drum, a charger and a drum cartridge memory storing a life count value and discharge history information. The controller includes a voltage applying circuit, and an abnormal discharge detection circuit. In a case where the abnormal discharge detection circuit detects an abnormal discharge, the controller does not permit printing in a case where the life count value is equal to or more than a first reference value and a number of abnormal discharges which is included in the discharge history information read from the drum cartridge memory is equal to or more than a particular threshold value, or permits printing in a case where the life count value is equal to or more than the first reference value and the number of abnormal discharges is less than the particular threshold value.

A display control device displays a user interface enabling selecting one of N (where N is an integer of 3 or more) selection options, and includes: an extractor configured to extract M (where M is an integer of 2 or more and less than N) selection options including a currently selected selection option from among N selection options; and a display controller configured to display a first screen including the M extracted selection options selectably at positions corresponding to an order of preference, and not selectably including remaining selection options.

An information processing apparatus includes circuitry to control a display to display a setting screen for a background pattern that allows a user to designate a special consumable material as a color to be used for information specified as the background pattern; generate print data using the designated special consumable material; and transmit the print data to an image forming apparatus.

An application operating on a first apparatus transmits a change request to a second apparatus in response to a user's operation on the application, and a browser operating on the first apparatus periodically transmits an update request for a screen displayed in the browser to the second apparatus. If an update request received from the first apparatus that is the same as a transmission source of the change request is an update request received for the first time since the change request is received from the first apparatus, the second apparatus transmits a screen corresponding to the change request to the first apparatus as a response to the update request.
