The image forming instruction information includes image data, and transmission information indicating the communication protocol used. An image forming section prints an image using one of a decolorable toner and a non-decolorable toner. A storage device stores correspondence information indicating, for each communication protocol, one of the decolorable toner and the non-decolorable toner for forming an image. A processor is programmed to determine the communication protocol with which the received image forming instruction information was transmitted. The processor determines, based on the correspondence information, one of the decolorable toner and the non-decolorable toner for forming an image, and controls the image forming section to print an image using the determined one of the decolorable toner and the non-decolorable toner.

An image forming apparatus includes a display device that displays an input screen image and a touch-panel arranged on the display device, and has a trial copy function of producing, when instructed to produce multiple copies of a document, a copy or a copies to allow the user to confirm that the copy or copies are well. When the trial copy function is designated and a copy start key displayed on the input screen image is pressed, the image forming apparatus produces one copy or copies of the document, erases the copy start key from the input screen image, and displays a trial copy key, a trial end key and a balloon including help information. An image forming apparatus capable of performing appropriate display when a container containing remaining developer is removed from a mount section. A controller of the image forming apparatus determines whether the amount of developer remaining in the container mounted on the mount section is larger than a predetermined amount. If a predetermined condition related to the amount of remaining developer in a developing device is satisfied, in a state where the container is mounted on the mount section, a first screen is displayed for prompting a user to replace the mounted container is displayed. If the predetermined condition is satisfied in a state where the container containing remaining developer in an amount larger than the predetermined amount has been removed from the mount section, a second screen is displayed for prompting the user to remount the removed container.
