An intravenous catheter assembly configured to provide two-stage visual indication during catheter insertion into a vein of a patient. The catheter insertion assembly including an insertion needle and a catheter coaxially positioned over the insertion needle to define an annular space between a radial wall of the insertion needle in a flexible wall of the catheter divided into a first axial chamber and a second axial chamber by a formed region of the flexible wall having a diameter configured to inhibit flow between the first axial chamber and the second axial chamber, thereby enabling blood to flow into the first axial chamber when the insertion needle and catheter are in an initial position, and enabling blood to flow into the second axial chamber when the insertion needle and catheter translate axially relative to one another.

NEEDLE ASSEMBLY WITH DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS PROVISIONS

A needle assembly. The needle assembly enabling the analysis of fluid trapped in a flashback chamber after an insertion needle has been inserted into a patient's vein.

Vessel cannulation device and method of use

Devices and methods are provided for automatic vascular access. An automatic vessel cannulation device, mechanical or electronic, has a sensor configured to detect a physiologic parameter of a needle tip, and a blunting device advancing member released in response to the sensor. The sensor may measure pressure or any other physiological parameter. A processor is configured to analyze data sent by the sensor and is pre-set to identify parameters unique to arteries, veins, or other body cavities or organs. A method may include comparing a physiologic parameter with pre-determined parameters to deploy a blunting element if the physiologic parameter is within a range of the pre-determined parameters. An expandable sheath may be included. A device can be provided having a motor controlling the cannulation device orientation to scan tissue with the tip of the needle by moving the cannulation device through the ultrasound transducer.

EFFICIENT METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ACCESSING BLOOD IN FLASH CHAMER OF AN IV CATHETER INSERTION DEVICE
20210093837 · 2021-04-01 ·

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for accessing blood located within a flash chamber of an IV catheter insertion device, the apparatus is a separate from the IV catheter insertion device assembly and sized to be attached to a structure of the IV catheter insertion device to secure it thereto (the separate apparatus may be a portion of a protective cover which shields the needle of the device during shipment, a cover which is removed prior to use of the IV catheter insertion device to expose the needle). Once in position, movement of the device from its rearward position to a forward position advances the plunger into contact with the flash chamber plug (or flash filter). Further advancement of the device then advances the flash chamber filter into flash chamber which expresses blood from the flash chamber of the IV catheter insertion device

A device and method yielding a blood analysis employable in combination with an introducer for a catheter for a concurrent testing of blood from the introducer flash chamber during placement of a venous catheter. The device employs a colorimetric blood analysis to provide the user a visually discernable alert to the results of tested blood concurrent with the placement of the catheter with the introducer.

INJECTION HEAD FOR INJECTING A FLUID SUBSTANCE AND PERMITTING MONITORING OF THE INJECTION SITE BEFORE INJECTION OF THE FLUID SUBSTANCE, AND SYRINGE COMPRISING SUCH A HEAD

An injection head, for injecting a fluid substance, and a syringe comprising such a head, wherein the head has a connection body continued by a hollow tube intended to communicate with the outlet of the reservoir and having a distal end, and a needle having a pointed distal end, the head additionally comprising means for controlling the relative movement of the needle with respect to the hollow tube between a puncturing position, in which the pointed end of the needle, which is extendable in the hollow tube, protrudes from the distal end of the hollow tube, and a position for monitoring and characterizing the liquid coming from the injection site, the pointed distal end of the needle being set back from the distal end of the hollow tube in the position.

Portable device for monitoring vascular access status

A portable device for monitoring vascular access status is disclosed. The portable device comprises a measurement device and a monitoring module. The measurement device senses vibration data induced by blood flow over certain part of a vascular access of a subject via a vibration-sensing module, and sends the sensed data to outside via its communication module. The monitor module controls an electronic device to receive the sensed data and determines a vibration evaluation index corresponding to a status of the part of the vascular access. The portable device for monitoring vascular access status of the present disclosed example has advantages of small size, easy to carry, low cost, and so on, so as to be applicable to home vascular access status monitor.

A catheter system may include a catheter assembly, which may include a catheter adapter and a catheter extending distally from a distal end of the catheter adapter. The catheter system may also include a needle assembly, which may include a needle hub and an introducer needle. The needle hub may include: a distal end coupled to the proximal end of the catheter adapter; a proximal end; a wall disposed between the distal end of the needle hub and the proximal end of the needle hub; and a flashback chamber proximate the wall. The introducer needle may be press-fit within a through-hole of the wall. The catheter system may also include a plug coupled to the proximal end of the needle hub. A blood collection device may be coupled to a proximal end of the plug to collect blood from a patient.
