MANAGING FLUID LEVELS IN A PATIENT AND ASSOCIATED DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Devices, systems, and methods for delivering fluid therapy to a patient are disclosed herein. An exemplary method can comprise obtaining a urine output rate from a patient; causing a diuretic to be provided to the patient at a dosage rate, wherein the dosage rate is increased over a period of time such that the urine output rate increases to be above a predetermined threshold within the period of time; and causing a hydration fluid to be provided to the patient at a hydration rate. The hydration rate can be set based on the urine output rate to drive net fluid loss from the patient.
LIQUID-VOLUME MEASURING DEVICE
The present invention relates to a hand-held volume measuring device configured for being clamped onto part of a urinary catheter and for measuring the volume of urine miming through the urinary catheter over a period of time.
Absorbent hygienic articles with sensors and biocompostable elements
Absorbent articles with biodegradable and/or biocompostable elements are disclosed, wherein the absorbent articles include sensors. The sensors detect and determine variables associated with collected fluids, solids, and gases, including a presence of fluids, solids, and gases, a volume of fluids, solids, and gases, and/or a distribution of fluids, solids, and gases. In one embodiment, the sensors and/or connected computing systems are calibrated to capacities and other properties of elements within the articles, including superabsorbent polymers, and are operable to trigger an alert based on detected or determined conditions.
Automated collection and analysis of body fluids
A method for collecting and analyzing urine at the time it is released uses a urine collecting tube joined with a canister. Suction is produced in the collecting tube to join the tube with a penis or to the exterior surface of a female urethra orifice. Once suction is achieved the collecting tube stays in place by suction action. When urine flows into the urine collecting tube a sensor triggers a vacuum pump to produce a higher level of suction to flush the urine into the canister where a level sensor determines the quantity of urine received. Various sensors in the canister determine levels of non-urine partials such as occult blood, drugs, salt, and other substances. When urine is no longer detected within the urine tube, the vacuum pump is turned off and a low-level vacuum remains to assure interconnection with the urine tube.
Urodynamic investigation apparatus, system, and methods
A urodynamic investigation apparatus for receipt of urine from a bladder is provided. The apparatus is characterized by a tubular element, first and second fittings, and a sleeve element, for select passage of urine there through, within the tubular element. The tubular element is characterized by opposing first and second end portions, and a port. The fittings are adapted to be received by the opposing end portions of the tubular element so as to delimit an apparatus chamber. The sleeve element, suspended between the fittings within the chamber, has collapsed and open configurations. The collapsed configuration is indicative of a no urine flow condition, and the open configuration indicative of a urine flow condition, with the sleeve element urine flow condition being a function of pressure applied to the chamber via the port of the tubular element.
Systems and methods for dynamic control of enteral feeding according to energy expenditure
A computer-implemented method of adjusting enteral feeding of a patient by an enteral feeding controller, comprising: computing an estimate of energy expenditure of the patient based on oxygen measurements and carbon dioxide measurements of the patient, computing a target composition and target feeding rate for the enteral feeding according to the computed estimate of energy expenditure, when the target composition and target feeding rate differ from a current enteral feeding composition and feeding rate by a requirement, generating instructions for adjustment, by an enteral feeding controller, of the rate of delivery of the enteral feeding according to the target composition, wherein the receiving the oxygen measurement, receiving the carbon dioxide measurement, and computing the estimate of energy expenditure are performing iteratively for every first time interval, and the generating instructions for adjustment are performed for a second time interval that is larger than the first time interval.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR UROFLOWMETRY
A system for uroflowmetry is disclosed. The system can include an audio device configured to obtain audio data of urination. The system can include a machine learning module with at least one processor and associated memory, wherein the system is configured to: process the audio data of urination via a machine learning model that is trained based on simulated urine flow data and associated audio data received from a urine flow simulator, and real urine flow data and associated audio data received from a urine flow measuring device, and output the processed audio data of urination to be used in uroflowmetry.
Treatment Compliance Tracking by Measuring Symptoms with an Analytical Toilet
An analytical toilet comprising a bowl for receiving excreta from a user; a seat for the user; a sensor for detecting a symptom of the user; wherein the sensor transmits data to a processor that uses the data to measure a symptom of the user is disclosed. A method for monitoring a patient comprising providing an analytical toilet comprising: a bowl for receiving excreta from a user; a seat for the user; a sensor for detecting a symptom of the user; having a user use the toilet to deposit excreta; detecting a symptom of the user with the sensor; transmitting data from the sensor to a processor; and using the data to measure the symptom and compare it to the user's normal or expected symptoms is disclosed.
Automatic Fluid Flow System with Latch Connection
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to apparatus and methods for automatic fluid flow system connectors. The system generally includes a load cell interface coupled to a console and a ring connector coupled to a fluid collection system. The ring connector can be releasably engaged with the load cell using an engagement structure such as a latch, locking arm, or spring clip mechanism. The ring connector and load cell can include electrical contacts configured to engage along an axis that extends perpendicular to a surface that the electrical contacts are disposed on. Advantageously, reduced wear on the electrical contacts should extend the usable life of the system.
MEASURING DEVICE AND MEASURING SYSTEM
A measuring device includes a weighing unit configured to measure a mass value of a urine bag; a control unit configured to calculate at least one of a voided volume and a urinary output per unit time on the basis of the mass value weighed by the weighing unit; a communication unit configured to transmit urinary output information related to at least one of the voided volume and the urinary output per unit time calculated by the control unit; and a first battery configured to supply power to the weighing unit, the control unit, and the communication unit.
