METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING THE MAXIMUM HEART RATE OF A USER OF IN A FREELY PERFORMED PHYSICAL EXERCISE

A method and a system for determining the maximum heart rate, called HRmax of a user of in a freely performed physical exercise and using an apparatus with software and memory means.

Athletic performance monitoring system utilizing heart rate information

Athletic activity may be monitored using heart rate in addition to or instead of other types of metrics. Accordingly, multiple different activity types may be compared based on heart rate information. Additionally, the heart rate information may be visualized by displaying the heart rate data over time or relative to pace or distance. Additionally, the system may allow a user to analyze his or her heart rate performance by identifying one or more portions of the athletic activity in which a user exhibited a specified range of heart rates. Athletic activity sessions may further be tagged with various indicators including weather, terrain, difficulty and intensity. According to one or more aspects, data for different types of activity metrics may be polled and/or transmitted to a system at different rates or based on different schedules. Moreover, users may specify whether sensed data may be uploaded, recorded and/or visualized prior to or during an activity session.

Exercise system and method

We here describe an exercise system and control method thereof to obtain exercise protocols relating to the individual user's optimal exercise intensity. The system and method comprise the monitoring of the transition between the aerobic and anaerobic training zones and an estimate of the maximal lactate steady state, which is an important physiological indicator of the user's cardio respiratory fitness. Together with individual models of how the user's heart rate responds to exercise intensity, it is possible to predict the needed exercise intensity that should be performed to obtain the wanted exercise goal. The analysis can (preferably) be performed in real-time during exercise.

To exercise equipment

A control system for controlling one or more of a plurality of exercise apparatuses across a network comprises a processor; a communication subsystem configured to communication with the plurality of exercise apparatuses across the network; and memory for storing information about one or more users. The information comprises, for each user, identity information, including a user identifier; and a resistance level indicator. Upon receipt of a user identifier from an exercise apparatus in the network, the processor is configured to identify the resistance level indicator stored in the memory corresponding to the user identifier, and cause the communication subsystem to transmit to the exercise apparatus the resistance level indicator for that user. Upon receipt of a performance parameter of a user from an exercise apparatus in the network, the processor determines whether to modify the resistance level indicator of that user based on the received performance parameter.

An electronic skin is manufactured by disposing an oxide thin film transistor (TFT), a pressure sensor, and a temperature sensor on a flexible substrate. The pressure sensor and the temperature sensor are respectively located on two sides of the flexible substrate. The oxide TFT includes a first TFT and a second TFT. The pressure sensor is configured to drive the first TFT, and the temperature sensor is configured to drive the second TFT. The method for preparing the electronic skin is to form an oxide TFT, a pressure sensor, and a temperature sensor by means of etching and deposition on a flexible substrate whose double sides are covered with conductive materials. The electronic skin provided in the present invention may simultaneously measure pressure and temperatures, and has a simple structure, a low working voltage, small power consumption, high sensitivity, and small interference between sensor signals.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for estimating the energy consumption of a person on the basis of heart rate data. In the method, the beat rate of heart is measured with a sensor or previously measured heart rate data are input for providing heart rate data and the energy consumption of a person is determined on the basis of heart rate data. According to the invention, a first threshold value is selected for the mass of the person and in case the mass of the person is larger than the first threshold value, energy consumption is calculated using a formula taking into account the deviation of the person's mass from the said first threshold value. The invention allows getting more accurate energy consumption estimates especially for overweight persons.
