Each adhesive toner image is formed so that at least one of the adhesive toner image bonding a front cover and a middle page together and the adhesive toner image bonding a back cover and a middle page together becomes greater in area than the adhesive toner image bonding the middle pages together when viewed from a direction perpendicular to a surface of a recording material, and a booklet is generated so that the adhesive toner image bonding the front cover and the middle page together, the adhesive toner image bonding the back cover and the middle page together, and the adhesive toner image bonding the middle pages together overlap when viewed from the direction perpendicular to the surface of the recording material.

To provide a sheet storing apparatus or a sheet processing apparatus which is downsized and slimmed with a structure that a manual setting portion is arranged at an external casing of the sheet storing apparatus or the sheet processing apparatus. A printing system obtains a print job, analyzes the obtained print job, and imposes print pages to a total of four surfaces of a print target sheet including two surfaces on each of front and back in accordance with a bookbinding format of the analyzed print job. As for an imposition method, if the bookbinding format of the print job is particular two fold bookbinding for which processing of two-folding a sheet and bonding a plurality of two-folded sheets is performed, imposition is performed while reserving a glue surface not to print out of the four surfaces of the print target sheet.

A booklet making method includes: cutting a web of paper on one side and on another side into first and second continuous sheets, alternately bonding the first and second continuous sheets widthwise with a setting paste and a throwaway paste to form a double set continuous sheet of paper, and cutting the double set continuous sheet of paper into split double sheets of a selected longitudinal length. A plurality of split double sheets is integrally bound with an integrating paste to form a booklet-like product. Portions of the booklet-like product which are pasted and bonded with the throwaway paste are cut off to provide a plurality of booklets. Thus, by the booklet making method, booklets having an odd number of leaves or pages are formed without waste of paper and with reduced paper jams.

Disclosed is an image forming system having a first mode in which an image forming unit forms toner images and adhesive layers on sheets, and a booklet creation apparatus creates a booklet using the sheets; and a second mode in which the image forming unit forms only adhesive layers on sheets, and the booklet creation apparatus creates a booklet using the sheets. A predetermined temperature of a fixing unit that is set for heating and pressing of a sheet in the fixing unit is lower in the second mode than in the first mode.

A booklet creating apparatus includes a heating-and-pressing unit and a controller. The heating-and-pressing unit heats and presses adhesive layer in a state in which plural sheets, with the adhesive layer formed thereon, are stacked. The controller performs control in such a way as to make a predetermined temperature and/or pressure lower when heating and pressing sheets of minimum size than when heating and pressing sheets of maximum size.

A sheet binding processing apparatus includes a control unit configured to, when performing the binding process for continuously binding a sheet bundle including a predetermined sheet which is larger than a predetermined length in a conveyance direction, control a conveyance unit, a buffer conveyance unit, and an upper conveyance unit such that a sheet that forms a subsequent sheet bundle is sent from a conveyance path to an upper branching path, and the sheet is then conveyed in a switchback direction from an upper branching path to a buffer path.

A sheet processing apparatus includes: a control unit configured to control at least one of a pair of side edge alignment plates such that the one of the pair of side edge alignment plates is located at a position where the side edge alignment plate can come into contact with an inner side of a sheet in a widthwise direction, which is shifted by a shift unit.

A sheet processing apparatus includes a processing unit, a braking mechanism, and, a damper mechanism. The processing unit is movable to a drawn-out position and an accommodated position. The drawn-out position is a position where the processing unit is drawn out from the sheet processing apparatus. The accommodated position is a position where the processing unit is accommodated in the sheet processing apparatus. The braking mechanism acts to brake the processing unit in a case where the processing unit is inserted in a direction from the drawn-out position toward the accommodated position at a speed equal to or higher than a predetermined speed. The damper mechanism absorbs an impact on the braking mechanism in a case where the braking mechanism act, by applying a load to the processing unit moving in the direction from the drawn-out position toward the accommodated position.

A sheet processing apparatus includes a plurality of casters, a processing unit, another caster and a support portion. The plurality of casters movably support the sheet processing apparatus. The processing unit is provided to be capable of being drawn out from and inserted into the sheet processing apparatus. The other caster is provided in the processing unit and comes into contact with an installation surface and supports the processing unit in a case where the processing unit moves in a draw-out direction. The support portion supports the other caster such that the other caster is movable to an accommodation position and a support position and move the other caster from the support position to the accommodation position in accordance with an operation of inserting the processing unit.
