An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit to form an image on a sheet while conveying the sheet at an image forming speed, a discharge roller pair to discharge the sheet, a conveyance roller pair to convey the sheet from the image forming unit to the discharge roller pair, and a control unit to control a motor to switch a speed of the conveyance roller pair and the discharge roller pair between a first speed corresponding to the image forming speed and a second speed higher than the first speed. In first control, the speed is switched from the second to the first speed at timing at which a trailing end of the sheet reaches a first position. In second control, the speed is switched from the second to the first speed at timing at which a leading end of a subsequent sheet reaches a second position.

It is possible to appropriately set a sampling condition in an image analysis so that the image analysis is completed within a required time. The image processing apparatus according to the present invention has: a setting unit configured to set a sampling condition under which a pixel of an image is sampled based on information indicating at least a number of bits of a pixel of the image; a sampling unit configured to sample a pixel of the image based on a sampling condition set by the setting unit; and an analysis unit configured to analyze the image based on pixel data sampled by the sampling unit.

An image reading apparatus includes the following. A conveyor conveys a sheet on which an image is formed by an image forming apparatus. An image reader reads the image formed on the sheet. A storage stores a speed variation profile which shows a speed variation for conveying the sheet with the conveyor when the image is read by the image reader. A controller, based on a speed variation profile stored in the storage, controls the conveyor to cancel a variation in speed shown by the speed variation profile, controls the image reader to read a reference mark formed on a sheet by the image forming apparatus, and obtains a forming position of the reference mark.

An image forming apparatus is operable in a first mode in which a job can be processed at a first printing speed and a second mode in which the job can be processed at a second printing speed faster than the first printing speed, and receives a reservation of a period in which the image forming apparatus will operate in the second mode, and controls the image forming apparatus to operate in the second mode rather than the first mode in accordance with the reservation.

An image forming apparatus includes a supplying unit that supplies a continuous recording material, an image forming unit that forms an image on the recording material supplied from the supplying unit, a fixing unit that fixes the image formed on the recording material by the image forming unit, a collecting unit that collects the recording material having passed through the fixing unit, a detecting device that detects a change in tension of the recording material running between the image forming unit and the fixing unit, and a tension adjusting device that adjusts the tension acting on the recording material such that the change in the tension of the recording material falls within a permissible range if the change in the tension of the recording material that is detected by the detecting device exceeds the predetermined permissible range.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a transferring member, and a controller. The image forming section includes an image supporting member and a developer supporting member. The image supporting member supports a latent image on a surface of the image supporting member. The developer supporting member supports, on a surface of developer supporting member, a developer that develops the latent image. The transferring member transfers, onto a transferred medium as a medium on which a transfer is to be performed, an image formed by the image forming section. The controller controls, as an amount of the developer, a developer amount to be fed to the latent image supported on the surface of the image supporting member, on the basis of a traveling velocity of the transferred medium.

A printing system comprising a print unit which executes printing for a print job according to a print instruction received from a user, comprises: a determination unit that determines whether or not selecting a printing speed from among a plurality of candidates of printing speeds for the print job is permitted, a display unit that displays, based on the determination, the plurality of candidates for the print job so as to be selectable by the user, and a control unit controls the print unit to execute, based on the selection by the user, the printing for the print job at a printing speed selected from the displayed plurality of printing speed candidates.

An image forming apparatus includes: a toner-image fixer that fixes an unfixed toner image on a sheet by conveying the sheet while heating and pressing the sheet at a fixing nip; a pressing force changer that changes a pressing force against the sheet at the fixing nip; and a hardware processor that controls the toner-image fixer and the pressing force changer, in which when a conveying speed of the sheet is changed by controlling the toner-image fixer, the hardware processor causes the conveying speed to change in a state in which the pressing force is decreased by controlling the pressing force changer.

In one embodiment, an image forming apparatus has an image forming device, a discharge port of a recording medium, a conveying device of the recording medium, and a controller. The controller judges a kind of the recording medium and the discharge port that is a conveying destination of the recording medium. The controller controls a conveying speed of the recording medium to be discharged from the discharge port by the conveying device, in accordance with the kind of the recording medium and the conveying destination of the recording medium which have been judged.
