Apnea events may be detected based on a primary biomarker, e.g., respiration, in the one or more physiological signals. The apnea events may be characterized as one of an obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) event, a central sleep apnea (CSA) event, or a combination OSA/CSA event based on a secondary biomarker, e.g., a frequency spectrum or a morphology of the respirations in the one or more physiological signals. A first electrical stimulation may be provided to treat OSA in response to a first one or more of the apnea events being characterized as OSA events. A second electrical stimulation may be provided to treat CSA in response to a second one or more of apnea events being characterized as CSA events. A third electrical stimulation may be provided to treat combination OSA/CSA in response to a third one or more of the apnea events being characterized as combination OSA/CSA events.

The apparatus may include at least one image capturing unit that is movably arranged to adjust a distance with respect to a subject and configured to obtain a thermal image by photographing the subject. The apparatus may also include a motion sensor unit configured to detect a motion of the subject to generate motion information, and a temperature information extracting unit configured to specify at least one examination region from the thermal image obtained by the image capturing unit and extract temperature information from the examination region. The apparatus may further include a respiratory status examining unit configured to determine a respiratory status of the subject based on the temperature information extracted by the temperature information extracting unit and the motion information generated by the motion sensor unit.
System and method for treating heart tissue
Some embodiments of a system or method for treating heart tissue can include a control system and catheter device operated in a manner to intermittently occlude a heart vessel for controlled periods of time that provide redistribution of blood flow. In particular embodiments, the system and methods may be configured to monitor at least one input signal detected at a coronary sinus and thereby execute a process for determining a satisfactory time period for the occlusion of the coronary sinus. In further embodiments, after the occlusion of the coronary sinus is released, the control system can be configured to select the duration of the release phase before the starting the next occlusion cycle.

A system and method are provided for monitoring subject behavior during sleep onset. In some aspects, a system includes one or more sensors configured to acquire behavioral data from a subject using input provided during sleep onset. The system also includes a processor programmed to at least assemble a time-series of behavioral responses using the behavioral data acquired using the one or more sensors, and estimate an instantaneous probability of response using the time-series of behavioral responses. The processor is also programmed to generate a statistical model of wakefulness using the instantaneous probability of response, and estimate, using the model, a probability indicative of a degree to which the subject is awake at each point in time during the sleep onset process. The processor is further configured to generate a report indicative of sleep onset in the subject. The system also includes an output for displaying the report.

System, method, and apparatus for visualizing cardiac timing information using animations
An animated electrophysiology map is generated from a plurality of data points, each including measured electrophysiology information, location information, and timing information. The electrophysiology and location information can be used to generate the electrophysiology map, such as a local activation time, peak-to-peak voltage, or fractionation map. Animated timing markers can be superimposed upon the electrophysiology map using the electrophysiology, location, and timing information. For example a series of frames can be displayed sequentially, each including a static image of the electrophysiology map at a point in time and timing markers corresponding to the state or position of an activation wavefront at the point in time superimposed thereon. The visibility or opacity of the timing markers can be adjusted from frame to frame, dependent upon a distance between the timing marker and the activation wavefront, to give the illusion that the timing markers are moving along the electrophysiology map.
