SURGICAL IMAGE-GUIDED NAVIGATION DEVICES AND RELATED SYSTEMS
MRI compatible localization and/or guidance systems for facilitating placement of an interventional therapy and/or device in vivo include: (a) a mount adapted for fixation to a patient; (b) a targeting cannula with a lumen configured to attach to the mount so as to be able to controllably translate in at least three dimensions; and (c) an elongate probe configured to snugly slidably advance and retract in the targeting cannula lumen, the elongate probe comprising at least one of a stimulation or recording electrode. In operation, the targeting cannula can be aligned with a first trajectory and positionally adjusted to provide a desired internal access path to a target location with a corresponding trajectory for the elongate probe. Automated systems for determining an MR scan plane associated with a trajectory and for determining mount adjustments are also described.

EQUIPMENT FOR APPLYING ACTIVE ELEMENTS TO THE SKULL OF A PATIENT
Equipment for applying active elements to a cranium of a patient comprises a support and a plurality of active elements, wherein the support comprises a means of connection with a patient and means for positioning the active elements in order to excite N+M zones of the cranium, the N+M zones comprising the zones VG.sub.19, VG.sub.20, VG.sub.21, C.sub.4, C.sub.5R, C.sub.5L, C.sub.6R and C.sub.6L, N and M being two integer numbers, N being a number between 2 and 8, M being less than N/2.
PHYSIOLOGICAL SIGNAL DETECTION AND ANALYSIS SYSTEMS AND DEVICES
In one aspect, a sensory, motor and/or cognitive analysis device includes a casing unit structured to include a contact side conformable to a forehead region of a user; a data acquisition unit structured to include one or more sensors to detect electrophysiological signals of the user when the user makes contact with the device; a data processing unit encased within the casing unit and in communication with the data acquisition unit to amplify and digitize the detected electrophysiological signals as data, to process the data, to store the data, and to transmit the data to a remote computer system; and a power supply unit encased within the casing unit to provide electrical power, in which the device is operable to acquire physiological and/or behavioral signal data from the user used to determine a quantitative and/or qualitative information set associated with a cognitive or sensory assessment.
Customization of help information based on EEG data
A method is implemented by a computing device for helping a particular user use a user interface (UI). Electroencephalography (EEG) data is obtained that indicates brain activity of a particular user during a period in which that user views the UI and/or interprets help information that describes how to use the UI. Based on the EEG data, the computing device selects, from among multiple predefined cognitive states, the one or more cognitive states that characterize the particular user during the period. The computing device assists the particular user to use the UI by customizing the help information for the particular user based on the one or more selected cognitive states. A complementary computing device and computer program product are also disclosed.

Method and System for Identification of Source of Chronic Pain and Treatment
A method for identifying and treating a neural pathway associated with chronic pain via nerve stimulation and brain wave monitoring of a mammalian brain includes positioning a probe to stimulate a target nerve, wherein the target nerve is suspected of being a source of chronic pain; delivering a first nerve stimulation from the probe to the target nerve, wherein the first nerve stimulation is sufficient to elicit a chronic pain response in the brain; and monitoring for evoked potential activity in the brain as a result of the first nerve stimulation. The method can also include delivering second and third nerve stimulations to confirm the correct identification of the neural pathway and to treat the chronic pain, respectively. A system and apparatus for performing a procedure to identify and treat a nerve that is the source of chronic pain are also described.
