SCREENING OF INDIVIDUALS FOR A RESPIRATORY DISEASE USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
20210338103 · 2021-11-04 ·

An artificial intelligence-based system and method for scalable screening of individuals for respiratory infection, such as COVID-19. The system is trained to distinguish distinct latent features of cough sounds produced by a COVID-19 infected person from cough sounds produced by patients suffering from any other respiratory infection or involuntary cough sounds produced by a healthy person. Cough sound samples from individuals can be remotely collected and evaluated by the system for likelihood of the COVID-19 infection. Additionally, images of affected body parts, biomarkers, metadata, and other respiratory sound samples can also be used for screening.

In some embodiments, the olfactory testing device comprises a cartridge having a plurality of odorant chambers, each odorant chamber housing an odorant therein. The olfactory testing device further includes a rear compartment configured to receive the cartridge and a tube in fluid communication with the outlet opening of the cartridge. In addition, the olfactory testing device includes an air pump having an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet opening of the cartridge, wherein air is supplied to one of the odorant chambers from the air pump, flows around the odorant, and exits the cavity through the tube, wherein a portion of the odorant is entrained in the air as it flows through the odorant chamber. Also provided are methods of testing odor threshold sensitivity and odor discrimination using the olfactory testing device.

OLFACTORY IMPAIRMENT TESTING AND TRAINING PLATFORM
20230337963 · 2023-10-26 · ·

An olfactory testing platform for testing for olfactory performance and for prompting olfactory training. The kit contains a plurality of inhaler sticks, each of which includes a first indicia that is computer readable, and a second indicia that is human readable. Each inhaler stick provides a scent that is different than every other inhaler stick in smell or concentration. A computer application running on a smart device having a camera is used to identify each inhaler stick in the kit using the first indicia and to prompt a user to select a detected scent from a plurality of options in response to presentation of the first indicia to the camera of the smart device. The smart devise also captures cognitive functions and integrates performance of various cognitive domains with olfactory performance.

The present invention falls within the field of medical diagnosis, more particularly in the field of computational methods for headache diagnosis. In short, the invention consists of an intelligent headache management system that comprises a plurality of remote modules connected with at least one analysis module, the remote modules being responsible for the collection of information related to the user and said information collection is carried out by at least one information collection device connected to said remote module. The information is transmitted to an analysis module, which comprises means to store and process the information transmitted by the remote module. The results from the computational processing of said information are transmitted to at least one remote module, being available to the user. The remote module comprises information collection devices for the collection of information actively provided by the user and for the automatic collection of information from the user and comprises stimulus devices for the emission of sensory stimuli to provoke biological responses from the user.

Volatile organic compounds (VOC's) diagnosis system
11828740 · 2023-11-28 · ·

A diagnosis system and method for detecting various Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in a biological sample by utilizing a smart platform configured to harness animal bio-sensors trained to detect various VOC's which may indicate various pathologies, and by conducting various data collection practices and analysis methods in order to produce output results. The diagnosis system and method is configured to analyze behavioral parameters concerning the animal bio-sensor and provide a non-invasive and safe diagnostic solution that does not involve exposing a patient to radiation or any other potentially harmful procedure.

INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, PROGRAM, AND INFORMATION PROVIDING SYSTEM

A via visual representation a relationship between a smell or a taste of an object and a verbal description of the smell or taste, a display control unit controls a projector to display, in a display area including to a position of a sample, specified by the position specifying unit, one or more descriptions relating to the sense of smell or taste stimulated by the sample. Here, display control unit displays the descriptions by an appearance corresponding to the sample specified by the sample specifying unit.

INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND PROGRAM

The discovery of a new expression likely to be supported as a smell or taste expression by many users. An acquisition unit acquires appearance history of expressions used by a plurality of users from SNS server device via network. An extraction unit extracts, for each user attribute, appearing expression, appearance frequency of which exceeds threshold value on basis of appearance history acquired by the acquisition unit. The extracted appearing expression is referred to as a frequently appearing expression. A presentation unit presents the frequently appearing expression extracted by the extraction unit as an expression candidate meaning a smell to a user who uses an input device. A registration unit registers the smell and the expression in association with each other when the frequency of selection, by the user who uses the input device, of the expression presented to the user as an expression meaning the smell satisfies a determined condition.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SCREENING SUBJECTS BASED ON PUPILLARY RESPONSE TO STIMULATION
20220240835 · 2022-08-04 ·

A system and method for screening a subject for a pupillary response to an olfactory stimulus as an indication for COVID-19. The method can include providing the olfactory stimulus to the subject via a scent dispenser, measuring a pupillary response of the subject to the olfactory stimulus via a detector, and comparing the measured pupillary response to a reference. The reference could include a default value or a characterized pupillary response for the subject or a population of individuals to the olfactory stimulus. The method can further include determining whether the subject demonstrates a diminished or an absent response to the olfactory stimulus according to whether the measured pupillary response differs from the reference by a threshold and providing an alert accordingly. The alert can include an intervention associated with COVID-19, such a recommendation to seek medical evaluation or take a COVID-19 diagnostic test.
