Systems, devices, and methods for treating vestibular conditions

Apparatus and methods are described herein that provide a vibratory device that can apply a vibratory signal to a portion of a head of a user such that the vibratory signal can be conducted via bone to a vestibular system of the user and cause a portion of the vestibular system to move in a manner equivalent to that of a therapeutically effective vibratory signal applied to an area overlaying a mastoid bone of the user. The vibratory device can be associated with frequencies less than 200 Hz. The vibratory device can be effective at treating a physiological condition associated with the vestibular system.

Systems and methods for impairment baseline learning

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for identifying impairment using measurement devices.

Systems, apparatuses and methods for stabilizing a user's body during detected fall events

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for more accurate remote monitoring of a user's body to stabilize the user during fall events and to thereby prevent the user from falling. In some embodiments, a wearable device comprising a power source, one or more sensors configured to monitor a user's COG (COG), at least one plurality of electrodes, a communications interface and a control device is provided. The wearable device is configured to apply electrical pulses according to defined electrical pulse stimulation protocols via the electrodes to target muscle groups of the user's body, causing those target muscle groups to contract and thereby stabilize the user's body during a fall event.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS INCLUDING EAR-WORN DEVICES FOR VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION EXERCISES

Embodiments herein relate to systems including ear-worn devices that can be used to aid vestibular rehabilitation exercises for ear-worn device wearers. In an embodiment a vestibular rehabilitation management system is included having an ear-worn device including a control circuit, a microphone in communication with the control circuit, and a motion sensor in communication with the control circuit, wherein the vestibular rehabilitation management system is configured to evaluate a wearer of the ear-worn device, and select a vestibular training exercise based on the evaluation. Other embodiments are also included herein.

VESTIBULAR TRAINING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE

A vestibular training apparatus and method as disclosed and claimed. Wherein the training apparatus comprises a motorized rotational platform, an adjustable body harness, a swivel coupling attached to the adjustable harness, a beam anchor, and pulley system. The pulley system in connection with the beam anchor allows a user to be lifted by the trainer after rotating on the motorized rotational platform, wherein the user continues to rotate after being lifted by the trainer as a result of inertia.

Method and system for monitoring intoxication

A method and system for monitoring a user's intoxication including receiving a set of signals, derived from a set of samples collected from the user at a set of time points; providing a sobriety task to the user proximal to a time point of the set of time points; generating a performance dataset characterizing performance of the sobriety task by the user; receiving a supplementary dataset characterizing a demographic profile of the user and/or a physiological state of the user; determining a set of values of an intoxication metric, derived from the set of signals; generating a predicted temporal profile of the intoxication metric for the user based upon the set of values, the set of time points, and the supplementary dataset; generating an analysis of the user's sobriety based upon the performance dataset and the predicted temporal profile; and providing a notification to the user based upon the analysis.

SENSORY SUBSTITUTION

Disclosed technology includes technology for compensating for a balance dysfunction. A system can combine sensory substitution with balance dysfunction suppression. Dysfunctional balance information coming from a recipient's vestibular system is inhibited using stimulation. Balance information (e.g. how the recipient is positioned with respect to gravity, such as rotation along pitch and roll axes) is than passed to another sensory channel (e.g., visual, audible, or tactile sensory channels). Such a system can be implemented with a cochlear implant or another sensory prostheses having balance signals injected into the stimulation signal processing path.

Systems and methods for stand alone impairment detection

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for identifying impairment using measurement devices.

A method for imbalance warning to be implemented by a wearable electronic device positioned on a body part of a user includes steps of: obtaining acceleration data during a calibration period; obtaining an angle threshold based on the acceleration data thus obtained; obtaining angular velocity data during a unit of time; calculating a sway angle based on the angular velocity data; determining whether the sway angle thus calculated exceeds the angle threshold; and when it is determined that the sway angle exceeds the angle threshold, outputting a signal that indicates imbalance of the user.
