Feedback device with stimulation of sensory nerves for improved balance control
10702202 · 2020-07-07 · ·

A feedback device for measuring pressure related information, and for providing that information in a way that is useful to the wearer of the device. At least one sensor detects pressure information and transmits at least one pressure information signal to a signal processing subsystem. The signal processing subsystem converts the received pressure information signal into at least one stimulation control signal. The signal processing subsystem then transmits the stimulation control signal to at least one stimulator, which provides stimulation to a wearer of the device reflecting the stimulation control signal received from the signal processing subsystem.

Data acquisition device and method of timing data sampling

A method of timing data sampling includes, in a data acquisition device, generating sampling intervals from a system clock of the data acquisition device, sampling data at the generated sampling intervals, and receiving start of frame (SOF) signals from a port, such as a USB port. For a selected number of SOF signals received, an actual number of system clock cycles is determined for a time interval corresponding to the selected number of SOF signals. The actual number of system clock cycles is compared to a nominal number of system clock cycles and a sampling interval is adjusted based on the comparison. The actual number of system clock cycles may be determined using a count-and-capture counter. The nominal number of system clock cycles may be calculated based on a nominal system clock rate and on a known SOF interval. Generating sampling intervals may include using a divide-by-N counter.

Apparatus and methods are described herein that provide a vibratory device that can apply a vibratory signal to a portion of a head of a user such that the vibratory signal can be conducted via bone to a vestibular system of the user and cause a portion of the vestibular system to move in a manner equivalent to that of a therapeutically effective vibratory signal applied to an area overlaying a mastoid bone of the user. The vibratory device can be associated with frequencies less than 200 Hz. The vibratory device can be effective at treating a physiological condition associated with the vestibular system.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR ACQUIRING, VALIDATING AND ANALYZING ATHLETIC MOVEMENT DATA
20200205720 · 2020-07-02 ·

Systems, devices and methods are provided for acquiring, validating and analyzing athletic movement data. Generally, a sensor device, such as a force plate, is provided for sensing certain characteristics of an athletic movement. A local computing device coupled to the sensor device can be configured to receive sensor data indicative of the characteristics of the athletic movement, process and extract information from the sensor data, and transmit the processed sensor data to a remote server system. The remote server system can be configured to store, aggregate and update the processed sensor data in a database, and can also generate one or more normalized scores correlating to the athletic movement. The normalized scores can indicate to a user a susceptibility to injury, progression towards return to play or propensity for success with respect to a particular sport.

A SYSTEM FOR CONFIGURING A HEARING DEVICE

A system is disclosed for configuring a hearing device. The system comprises an audiogram processing component arranged to process image data indicative of an image of an audiogram associated with a person so as to produce audiogram data indicative of the audiogram, and a hearing device configuration component arranged to produce hearing device configuration data based on the audiogram data. The configuration data is indicative of configuration settings for a hearing device that will cause the hearing device to assist the hearing of the person.

POSTURAL SWAY ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHOD

A postural sway analysis system is disclosed. The system includes a camera worn by an individual, a processing unit coupled to the camera, a floor marker placed on a floor near the shoes or feet of the individual. The camera is configured to acquire images of the floor marker, which has a known size or diameter, while the individual is standing. The processing unit is configured to capture an initial calibration image of the floor marker using the camera while an individual is standing still to determine the distance between the camera and the floor marker. The processing unit is further configured to capture subsequent time-varying images of the floor marker while the individual is standing (and swaying). Furthermore, the processing unit is configured to compare the calibration images to the subsequent time-varying images to determine a postural sway of the individual.

MULTIPARAMETER METHOD FOR QUANTIFYING BALANCE

The invention relates to a method for quantifying the balance of an individual to obtain a value representative of the balance of said individual, said method being implemented by a device comprising at least one data processing module connected to a storage means and said method comprising: a) a step of recording, on the storage means, at least one statokinesigram of the individual obtained from a platform comprising pressure and/or force sensors, b) a step of extracting, by the data processing module and from the one or more statokinesigram(s) of the individual recorded on the storage means, values of at least one position trajectory parameter of the pressure center and values of at least one stability trajectory parameter of the pressure center, c) a step of determining, by the data processing module, the value of several quantifiers, from the values of the trajectory parameters extracted in step b), d) a step of comparing, by the data processing module, said values of several quantifiers with the values of the same quantifiers obtained from reference statokinesigrams, and e) a step of determining, by the data processing module, said value representative of the balance of the individual at the end of the comparison.
