SYSTEM TO IDENTIFY TRANSITIONS IN BRAIN STATES FROM ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL MARKERS IN DBS FOR DEPRESSION
Methods and systems are described for providing deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subcallosal cingulate region (SCC) to provide symptom relief in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). The DBS devices may enable chronic electrophysiology recording to deliver SCC DBS therapy. One or more machine-learning models may identify SCC LFP changes that indicate the patient's current clinical state. The clinical state is distinct from acute transient stimulation effects, is sensitive to DBS stimulation adjustments, and accurately captures individual differences in recovery trajectory.
Apparatus for measuring degree of frailty on basis of athletic ability parameters
Disclosed herein is a frailty diagnosis apparatus. The frailty diagnosis apparatus includes a physical performance meter and a processor for determining a frailty index of a target person based on physical performance of the target person obtained by the physical performance meter. The physical performance meter includes at least one among a gait speed meter for measuring a gait speed of the target person, a body balance meter for measuring a body balance maintenance time of the target person, and a muscle strength meter for measuring a muscle exercise time.
Method and system for monitoring intoxication
A method and system for monitoring a user's intoxication including receiving a set of signals, derived from a set of samples collected from the user at a set of time points; providing a sobriety task to the user proximal to a time point of the set of time points; generating a performance dataset characterizing performance of the sobriety task by the user; receiving a supplementary dataset characterizing a demographic profile of the user and/or a physiological state of the user; determining a set of values of an intoxication metric, derived from the set of signals; generating a predicted temporal profile of the intoxication metric for the user based upon the set of values, the set of time points, and the supplementary dataset; generating an analysis of the user's sobriety based upon the performance dataset and the predicted temporal profile; and providing a notification to the user based upon the analysis.
Image based detection of characteristic eye movements
In a method for determining a type of characteristic eye movement of the eyes of a patient, the patient is provided with an optokinetic stimulus for the characteristic eye movement, a medical image of the brain of a patient also including the eyes of the patient is generated. An amount of a displacement of an optic nerve of the patient may be determined based on the medical image and a type of a characteristic eye movement may be determined based on the velocity of eye movement for the determined amount of displacement of the optic nerve. In a method for training an artificial intelligence based algorithm for determining an amount of a displacement of an optic nerve of a patient, the algorithm may be trained based on at least one medical image.
PILLOW FOR PERFORMING ROLL MANEUVER
The present invention provides a pillow for performing roll maneuvers, wherein a subject performs the roll maneuver by following a set of instructions specified on the pillow. The pillow includes one or more segments that are sequentially arranged, wherein the pillow can be folded and unfolded at a central section along a vertical axis using a connecting element. Each segment of the one or more segments, with the set of instructions, is contoured on either side of a horizontal axis of the surface of the pillow. The set of instructions allows the subject to perform the roll maneuvers, which causes debris present in any position in the horizontal canal of the inner ear of the subject to move towards an utricle.
Device for monitoring for effectiveness of heart failure therapy
A step-on device records the patient's EKG, Respiratory signal, PPG, and weight, giving health care personnel the ability to monitor patient health trends. The device sends the data to a central server via a smartphone or via WiFi. Health care personnel may view the data and trends on an online website or app.
Method and system for functional balance assessment
A system comprising: at least one platform configured for, in use, having a person on it, said platform comprising a plurality of sensors configured for capturing information of forces/pressures applied by the feet of the person or of the position of the person's feet; means for, from said captured information, respectively extracting either a center of pressure or the position of the feet; at least one reference signal disposed at a known location with respect to said platform; at least one sensor which, in use, is connected to the body of the person situated on said platform, the sensor being configured for capturing said at least one reference signal; processing means for extracting information from said at least one captured reference signal and for estimating the position and/or orientation of said at least one sensor; processing means for estimating the position and/or orientation of the body of said person; processing means for calculating a stability index from said position and/or orientation of the body of said person and from said extracted feet position or center of pressure.
COMPUTATIONAL USER-HEALTH TESTING
Methods, apparatuses, computer program products, devices and systems are described that carry out obtaining user-health data; selecting at least one user-health test function at least partly based on the user-health data; and applying the at least one user-health test function to at least one interaction between at least one user and at least one device-implemented application whose primary function is different from symptom detection.
Vestibular System Examination Device
A vestibular system examination device includes a platform unit and an examination unit. The platform unit includes abase, a driving mechanism mounted to the base, and a seat mounted to the driving mechanism and adapted for a user to sit thereon. The seat is driven movably and rotatably with six degrees of freedom by the driving mechanism. The examining unit includes a detector adapted for detecting eye movement or electrooculography of the user, a measuring module electrically connected to the platform unit for measuring location and displacement thereof, and a processing module electrically connected to the detector and the measuring module for receiving and processing data acquired from the detector and the measuring module.
Multimodal Sensory Feedback System and Method for Treatment and Assessment of Disequilibrium, Balance and Motion Disorders
The invention relates to a system and method for measuring the biomechanical state of a subject using various sensors simultaneously with providing the subject with visual exercises for rehabilitation and assessment of disequilibrium, balance and motion disorders. The biomechanical state of a subject is measured during the subject's performance of a predetermined task. Such measurements are useful for the assessment of disequilibrium, balance and motion disorders and are also useful for the determination of therapeutic application of vibrotactile, auditory, or visual feedback to a subject during the subject's attempt to perform a predetermined task. An intelligent controller compares the subject's biomechanical state to a predetermined parameter to determine a variance. If the variance exceeds a threshold, feedback in the form of visual feedback, vibrotactile feedback or auditory feedback may be provided to the subject as a therapeutic means for enabling the subject to compensate for disorder effects.
