Systems and methods for monitoring subjects in potential hypoxic distress
A method of monitoring a subject for the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) includes obtaining real-time pulse arterial oxygen saturation (SpO.sub.2) measurements from the subject. The SpO.sub.2 measurements are transformed into a novel metric known as Accumulated Hypoxic Debt (AHD). The AHD metric is used as the independent variable in a longitudinal generalized linear mixed model to calculate the probability D that the subject is at risk of AMS. Based on the probability D, appropriate courses of action may be communicated to the subject via the output device of a wearable or portable monitor.
Apparatus and Method for Computerized Rotational Head Impulse Test
A system and associated method for computerized rotational head impulse test (crHIT) to assess the semicircular canals of the human vestibular system clinically in patients with balance disorders. The system utilizes a rotary chair combined with a head mounted VOG system with head tracking sensors. The crHIT protocol uses the same physiologic principles as the known video head impulse test (vHIT). The crHIT utilizes whole-body rotation via the chair to yield a persistent controlled, repeatable, comfortable, reliable stimulus can be delivered while recording eye movements with video-oculogaphy.
COCHLEA HEALTH MONITORING
Presented herein are in-situ techniques for monitoring a recipient's cochlea health to proactively identify (i.e., predict) changes to the recipient's cochlea health outside of a clinical setting. The cochlea health monitoring techniques presented herein obtain one or more cochlea health biomarkers associated with a recipient's cochlea health, such the recipient's residual hearing, and analyze these biomarkers to predict that a cochlea health change is likely to occur.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING, MONITORING, CONTROLLING AND CORRECTING A MOVEMENT OR A POSTURE OF A USER
A method for measuring, monitoring, controlling, evaluating and correcting proprioceptive and/or postural and/or locomotor and/or motor and/or spatial orientation abilities of a user, includes measuring and processing in order to detect an effective movement or an effective posture of the user; comparing the effective movement or the effective posture to a theoretical movement or a theoretical posture; providing biological feedback in order to allow the user to correct his effective movement or his effective posture with respect to the theoretical movement or the theoretical posture; calculating and storing a score; transmitting the score to a third party in order to allow the latter to monitor the performances of the user; and automatically or non-automatically updating a level of difficulty.
SYSTEM FOR CONFIGURING A HEARING DEVICE
A system is disclosed for configuring a hearing device. The system includes an audiogram processing component arranged to process image data indicative of an image of an audiogram associated with a person so as to produce audiogram data indicative of the audiogram, and a hearing device configuration component arranged to produce hearing device configuration data based on the audiogram data. The configuration data is indicative of configuration settings for a hearing device that will cause the hearing device to assist the hearing of the person.
EYEWEAR FOR TREATMENT OF VESTIBULAR MALADIES
A method for treating a patient having a vestibular malady is provided. The method comprises (a) diagnosing the patient as having a vestibular malady; and (b) prescribing eyewear to the patient as a treatment of the vestibular malady, either alone or in conjunction with undertaking vestibular rehabilitation while wearing the eyewear. The eyewear (201) has a first lens (205) which extends over the field of vision of a first eye, wherein the first lens has first (207) and second (209) distinct optical regions. The eyewear imparts vision to the first eye which is characterized by a central vision having a first optical quality and a peripheral vision having a second optical quality.
Systems and methods for impairment testing in a monitoring system
Various embodiments provide systems and methods for identifying impairment using measurement devices.
Force measurement system
A force measurement system that includes at least one force plate module is disclosed herein. The at least one force plate module has a plurality of force plate assemblies supported on a base component, each of the force plate assemblies includes a plate component having a top surface, the top surface of the plate component forming a force measurement surface for receiving at least one portion of a body of a subject; and at least one force transducer, the at least one force transducer configured to sense one or more measured quantities and output one or more signals that are representative of the one or more measured quantities, the plate component being supported on the at least one force transducer. The at least one force plate module is configured to be connected to one or more additional force plate modules so as to form a modular array of force plates.
Method, System and Apparatus for Investigating or Assessing Eye or Pupil Movement
Method, system and apparatus (10) for capturing eye/pupil movement(s). Wearable apparatus (10) includes image capture means (12,18), a light source (16) to illuminate the eye(s). Video recordings can be stored in memory (20) and/or transmitted to a remote location. The apparatus (10) can include on-board image processing. Pupil shape and/or position can be determined e.g. from glints (28). Direction and speed of eye motion can be determined. Head movement (50) and eye motion (52) measurements can be obtained. Measurement by head movement sensors (32), body sensors (34) and/or environment sensors (38) (e.g. gravity) can be factored in to an assessment of the user's condition.
Systems and methods for providing interoperability among healthcare devices
A medical system includes a network; one or more medical data collection appliances coupled to the network, each appliance transmitting data conforming to an interoperable format; and a server coupled to the network to store data for each individual in accordance with the interoperable format.
