The methods, devices, and systems generally include monitoring a patient's hemoglobin level and at least one of autonomic balance and inflammatory state to determine the etiology of the anemic state, modulating at least one of a sympathetic or parasympathetic nerve based on the cause of the anemia, monitoring for changes in the patient's cardiac activity and state of inflammation, and hemoglobin level. An external neurostimulation system is describes, and well as a chronic implantable system. A method for treating a patient for anemia in conjunction with a renal denervation ablation catheter is also disclosed.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MODULATING NEURAL ACTIVITY
Methods and related systems for modulating neural activity by modulating neural activity in a nerve plexus of a subject are disclosed. Neural activity may be modulated by stimuli delivered via various types of stimulus sources. Neural modulation may be used, for example, to modulate an undesired sensation, such as pain. Delivery of stimuli for modulating neural activity may be controlled in part in based on an activity state of the subject.
STIMULUS PLACEMENT SYSTEM USING SUBJECT NEURO-RESPONSE MEASUREMENTS
An example system disclosed herein includes an analyzer to analyze first neuro-response data from a first frequency band of a first subject exposed to source material and second neuro-response data from a second frequency band of the first subject and a selector to identify a candidate location in the source material for introduction of an advertisement or entertainment based on a degree of coherence between a first change in amplitude of the first frequency band measured before a neurological event and a second change in amplitude of the second frequency band measured before the neurological event. The analyzer is to analyze third neuro-response data from at least one of the first subject or a second subject exposed to a combination of the source material and the advertisement or entertainment inserted in the candidate location and determine an effectiveness of the advertisement or entertainment based on the third neuro-response data.
CONTENT BASED SELECTION AND META TAGGING OF ADVERTISEMENT BREAKS
An example system to identify an advertisement to include in source material to increase an effectiveness of the advertisement includes an analyzer to determine one or more priming characteristics for a plurality of locations of a source material based on neuro-response data collected from a first subject exposed to the source material and a selector to identify an attribute of the advertisement, identify at least one of a temporal attribute or a spatial attribute for the plurality of locations, perform a comparison of the attribute of the advertisement to the at least one of the temporal attribute or the spatial attribute for the plurality of locations, select a first location of the plurality of locations for insertion of the advertisement based on the comparison and the priming characteristics, and transform the source material to include the advertisement at the first location.
Neural Stimulation and Recording, Particularly for Neuromodulation Closed-Loop Control
A device for neurostimulation including an electrode structure for delivering stimulation pulses to a nerve as well as for processing and extracting evoked compound action potentials, wherein the electrode structure comprises at least a first anode, at least a second anode opposing the first anode and a plurality of cathodes arranged between said anodes, wherein said cathodes are asymmetrically arranged with respect to said at least first and second anode to permit evoked compound action potential sensing via the anode electrodes simultaneously with stimulation.
Transcutaneous and Transcranial Nerve Stimulation
In an example, physiological signal(s) are received from physiological sensor(s) configured to measure at least one physiological property of a user. An arousal of at least one characteristic of at least one treatment resistant mood disorder is detected through employment of an estimation method based at least in part on at least one of the physiological signal(s). A value for at least one of a plurality of stimulation parameters is selected based at least in part on at least one of the physiological signal(s). An electric field based at least in part on the arousal is produced. The electric field is configured to stimulate at least a portion of a median nerve of the user transcutaneously. The electric field is based at least in part on at least some of the plurality of stimulation parameters.
Systems and methods for monitoring autonomic health
A system for monitoring autonomic health may include an autonomic nerve stimulation (ANS) dose delivery system and a response extractor. The response extractor may be configured to record physiological parameter values including first population data that includes evoked response (ER) values corresponding to evoked physiological responses, and second population data that includes reference values that include no effect (NE) values corresponding to times without a physiological response. The response monitor may calculate evoked response metrics (ERMs) using the first and second population data where each of the ERMs may be dependent on background autonomic activity. The response extractor may analyze the ERMs to provide ERM analysis, and provide an indication of autonomic health using the ERM analysis.
APPARATUS FOR EFFECTIVE ABLATION AND NERVE SENSING ASSOCIATED WITH DENERVATION
An intravascular catheter for nerve activity ablation and/or sensing includes one or more needles advanced through supported guide tubes (needle guiding elements) which expand to contact the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the needles to be advanced though the vessel wall into the extra-luminal tissue including the media, adventitia and periadvential space. The catheter also includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall. Electrodes near the distal ends of the needles allow sensing of nerve activity before and after attempted renal denervation. In a combination embodiment ablative energy or fluid is delivered from the needles in or near the adventitia to ablate nerves outside of the media while sparing nerves within the media.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR NEUROMUSCULAR TRANSMISSION MEASUREMENT
Methods and systems are provided for monitoring neuromuscular blockade in patients during surgical procedures. In one embodiment, a system includes a stimulator, an electromyography (EMG) sensor, a kinemyography (KMG) sensor, and a single connector configured to couple each of the stimulator, the EMG sensor, and the KMG sensor to a patient monitoring device via a single input. In this way, neuromuscular transmission (NMT) monitoring in patient may be done reliably by ensuring that NMT measurement from a first sensor (EMG sensor) is in line with the measurement of the second sensor (KMG sensor).
