An information display method displays brain activity information calculated using a biological signal measured from a living body so as to be superimposed on a morphological image including a plurality of sectional images. The information display method includes: acquiring mask information representing an area belonging to a brain in the morphological image; and detecting one or more extremal value positions with spatial extremal values in the brain activity information based on the mask information. A sectional image corresponding to the one or more extremal value positions is acquired from the morphological image. A brain activity distribution corresponding to the sectional image is acquired. The brain activity distribution is displayed so as to be superimposed on the sectional image.

Systems and methods for multi-modal and non-invasive stimulation of the nervous system

Systems and methods are provided to combine multiple stimulation modalities to significantly increase the effectiveness of non-invasive stimulation. Multiple sensor and stimulation devices and modalities can be combined into a single, compact unit that minimizes the need for additional sensors or stimulation devices. The system features several subunits, referred to as sensory and stimulation devices (SSD), that are integrated into a headphone setup. The system is controlled by a centralized controller that communicates with all of the SSDs and with an external computer system that delivers learning material synchronized with the delivery of stimulations and the collection of user responses based on physiological signals.

HEAD INJURY ASSESSMENT BASED ON COMNINATIONS OF BIOMARKERS, COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT AND/OR IMPACT DETECTION
20230010314 · 2023-01-12 ·

Improved assessment of brain injuries, and improved brain injury management, is achieved using a combination of impact-related data derived from instrumented mouthguard devices, human function performance testing, and biomarkers derived from biological fluid (such as saliva and/or blood). The human function performance testing may include brain function performance testing, and/or other forms of human function performance testing. This involves combining a data-driven understanding of a head impact event (based on data collected via an instrumented mouthguard device) with a data-driven understanding of human function performance following that head impact event. The biomarkers may include salivary mRNA and/or ncRNA, and/or blood proteins (for example via a FDA-approved Brain Trauma Indicator test).

PROBE DEVICES WITH TEMPERATURE SENSORS AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Electrode devices are provided having certain thin film components, including at least one thin film contact and a temperature sensor associated with the contact. The temperature sensor can be used to monitor the temperature during use of the electrode device, including during electrical stimulation or ablation. Further, the temperature sensor can be used to identify the most effective temperature for stimulation or ablation.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION (TMS) TO AN INDIVIDUAL
20230043685 · 2023-02-09 ·

Apparatus for applying Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to an individual, wherein the apparatus comprises: a head mount for disposition on the head of an individual; and a plurality of magnet assemblies for releasable mounting on the head mount, wherein each of the magnet assemblies comprises a permanent magnet, and at least one of (i) a movement mechanism for moving the permanent magnet and/or (ii) a magnetic shield shutter mechanism, for selectively providing a rapidly changing magnetic field capable of inducing weak electric currents in the brain of an individual so as to modify the natural electrical activity of the brain of the individual; wherein the number of magnet assemblies mounted on the head mount, their individual positioning on the head mount, and their selective provision of a rapidly changing magnetic field is selected so as to allow the spatial, strength and temporal characteristics of the magnetic field to be custom tailored for each individual, whereby to provide individual-specific TMS therapy, to assist in diagnosis or to map out brain function in neuroscience research.

Methods and Systems for Displaying Eye Images to Subjects and for Interacting with Virtual Objects
20230045213 · 2023-02-09 ·

A processing subsystem generates perceived images from information bearing nerve impulses that are transmitted from a subject's eye(s) to a visual processing region of the subject's brain along one or more nerves in response to the subject viewing a real-world scene. The processing subsystem generates display images based on the perceived images, and controls a display device to display the display images to the subject. In certain embodiments, the processing subsystem generates the display images by manipulating or modifying the perceived images to include virtual images, and provides a type of virtual pointing on the display images that is used to invoke one or more actions.

INSERTION OF MEDICAL DEVICES THROUGH NON-ORTHOGONAL AND ORTHOGONAL TRAJECTORIES WITHIN THE CRANIUM AND METHODS OF USING
20180000372 · 2018-01-04 ·

The invention comprises an elongated device adapted for insertion, including self-insertion, through the body, especially the skull. The device has at least one effector or sensor and is configured to permit implantation of multiple functional components through a single entry site into the skull by directing the components at different angles. The device may be used to provide electrical, magnetic, and other stimulation therapy to a patient's brain. The lengths of the effectors, sensors, and other components may completely traverse skull thickness (at a diagonal angle) to barely protrude through to the brain's cortex. The components may directly contact the brain's cortex, but from there their signals can be directed to targets deeper within the brain. Effector lengths are directly proportional to their battery size and ability to store charge. Therefore, longer angled electrode effectors not limited by skull thickness permit longer-lasting batteries which expand treatment options.

WIRELESS MONITORING OF SAFETY HELMETS
