MULTI-TARGET ADAPTIVE NEUROSTIMULATION THERAPY CONTROL
A medical device or system of medical devices can be configured to detect an indicator of a symptom in a patient; in response to detecting the indicator of the symptom in the patient, deliver to the patient a first stimulation therapy; and in response to determining that the indicator of the symptom has been present for more than a threshold amount of time after beginning to deliver the first stimulation therapy a second stimulation therapy different than the first stimulation therapy.
Methods, systems, and apparatus for identifying and tracking involuntary movement diseases
Methods that can that can identify involuntary movement diseases are provided. One method includes sensing, by a set of sensors of a computing device, behavior of a user while the user interacts with the computing device and identifying, by a processor of the computing device, involuntary movement patterns for the user based on one or more characteristics of the sensed behavior. Systems and apparatus that can include, perform, and/or implement the methods are also provided.
Method and system for quantifying movement disorder systems
A system and method for scoring movement disorder symptoms comprises a movement measurement data acquisition system and processing comprising kinematic feature extraction and an algorithm trained using Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and Movement Disorder Society UPDRS (MDS-UPDRS) scores from skilled clinicians. The movement data acquisition system, or movement measuring apparatus, may comprise sensors such as accelerometers or gyroscopes or may utilize motion capture and/or machine vision technology or various other methods to measure tremor, bradykinesia, gait and balance disturbances, dyskinesia, or other movement disorders in a subject afflicted with Parkinson's disease, essential tremor or the like. The method outputs, and system displays, a score that uses and inclusive 0-4 scale that correlates to the UPDRS and MDS-UPDRS, or to a particular component of the movement disorder such as speed, amplitude or rhythm, but has greater resolution and lower variability. In some embodiments, the system is used to diagnose and/or treat the patient by providing recommendations for treatment and/or by supplying treatment in the form of pharmaceutical drugs and/or electric stimulus as part of a closed-loop system.
MOVEMENT DISORDER DETERMINATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The present invention is directed to movement disorder determination systems and methods. The systems and methods involve a mobile device and a computer system communicating with each other over a communications network. The mobile device is implemented with a pattern receiving and conversion software application and the computer system is implemented with a pattern processing software application. The pattern receiving and conversion software application and the pattern processing software application are configured to determine whether an individual has a movement disorder and the severity of the disorder if he does from a trace produced by the individual over a pattern such as an Archemidal spiral. The pattern processing software application processes the user trace to make the determination and informs the user the result of its determination.
A device and relative method for determining extrapyramidal symptoms, in particular motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease
A method and a related device to determine the kinetic state of a subject includes the steps of determining a signal indicative of the acceleration trend on the three Cartesian axes; processing the signal to limit the frequency band and preferably reduce artifacts and compensate the offset of the output signals from a multi-axial measurement system; analyzing frequency and spectrum through the transformation of the signal with the Fournier transform; computing the power spectral density for each Cartesian axis; and comparing the spectral density with a characteristic pattern of a movement.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSESSING NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASE
A method of assessing neuromuscular disease in a subject, the method comprising: recording the subject performing one or more tasks on a device, wherein the one or more tasks requires the subject to interact with the device by touching the device, including recording touch interactions with the device using one or more sensors of the device; determining one or more parameters from the recorded touch interactions; comparing the determined parameters with predetermined parameters.
Computational User-Health Testing
Methods, apparatuses, computer program products, devices and systems are described that carry out accepting user brain activity measurement data; selecting at least one user-health test function at least partly based on the user brain activity measurement data; and applying the at least one user-health test function to at least one interaction between at least one user and at least one device-implemented application.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MOTOR FUNCTION CHARACTERIZATION
Analysis of keystroke dynamics performed by an individual can be used for assessment and monitoring of the individual's motor function. Keystroke events related to a user pressing one or more keys on a keyboard or regions on a touch screen may be analyzed to identify a plurality of distributions of keystroke event intervals. The plurality of distributions may be analyzed to identify one or more features indicative of variation among the distributions and indicative of the user's motor function. Monitoring of a user's motor function may include comparing a value for a feature for one plurality of distribution to a second value for the same feature for another plurality of distributions.
Movement disorder therapy system and methods of tuning remotely, intelligently and/or automatically
The present invention relates to methods for remotely and intelligently tuning movement disorder of therapy systems. The present invention still further provides methods of quantifying movement disorders for the treatment of patients who exhibit symptoms of such movement disorders including, but not limited to, Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonism, Dystonia, Chorea, and Huntington's disease, Ataxia, Tremor and Essential Tremor, Tourette syndrome, stroke, and the like. The present invention yet further relates to methods of remotely and intelligently or automatically tuning a therapy device using objective quantified movement disorder symptom data to determine the therapy setting or parameters to be transmitted and provided to the subject via his or her therapy device. The present invention also provides treatment and tuning intelligently, automatically and remotely, allowing for home monitoring of subjects.
Sensor system and process for measuring electric activity of the brain, including electric field encephalography
A sensor system and process for measuring electromagnetic activity of a brain are provided. The system and process employ a sensor assembly having a plurality of electrodes arranged in a closely spaced arrangement and a processor to determine a weighted average of the signals indicative of an electric field generated by electromagnetic activity of the brain. The system provides a medical body area network of a subject including one or more of the sensor assemblies and one or more additional sensors, which may be within a smartphone or other wearable device.
